Woo. I got an email from Lewis Hamilton..and so did everyone else I'm assuming. Here it is:

Quote:
I need your help.

For a long time, I've been living a secret life away from my day job - an incredible, adventurous life. It takes me all round the world, stretching my body and mind to their limits.

It's dangerous. I've come up against some worthy adversaries. And it's a huge amount of fun. Wink

But there's too much for me to do on my own. I need a network of people who can see what I can't see, hear what I can't hear, learn what I can't learn. I need you.

Today is your first challenge. Join me now and begin an amazing adventure online, on mobile and out in the real world.

Think you can handle it?

Join me at www.SecretLewis.com.

- Lewis

I believe, I think, that the stolen painting is probably:

Joseph Mallord William Turner
The Red Rigi 1842
Watercolour on paper, unique
support: 305 x 458 mm
National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia: Felton Bequest, 1947

I got this information off the Tate Gallery website, not sure if that's at all relevant though

Edit: Turner did 4 paintings of this mountain, 3 finished, one was not. This is one is owned by an Australian gallery which I assume comes under the art council. Of the other 2 finished Rigi paintings the blue is owned by the Tate and the other (the Dark Rigi) by an english private collector. Which I guess means the owner of the Dark Rigi painting is the collector who set this up.. not sure how to find that though.

Loving the fact I did the game in 57 moves yet it told me on the final screen I'd done it in 12 - it's not even possible in 12 moves Razz

I think they're teasing us with this much info so far, doesn't look like we'll get anything more from the YouTube audio. I wonder if they're testing us to see how easily we solve their puzzle and find their link... I'd like to think they are Wink

A quick key to percentage bar levels:

0-30%: nothing to worry about
50%: there is a trap next to you, but not connected to you
80%: there is a trap connected to you! Think before you move!
100%: there is more than one trap nearby. Really think before you move!

wanted to add something to the list:

0%: nothing to worry about
30%: A trap connected not next to you but close/next to the one next to you
50%: there is a trap next to you, but not connected to you
60%: there is not a trap next to you, but next to the one connected to you.
80%: there is a trap connected to you! Think before you move!
100%: there is more than one trap nearby. Really think before you move!

See this game as the classic minesweeper, also a good hint: Think! if you have 0% then all your direct surroundings (connected or unconnected) are not traps!

I am working on a walktrough atm.

I take it it would be poor sport to post a solution, then? ;) A walkthrough sounds like a great idea!

I like your idea about the painting being the Red Rigi, Bam. Seems like the people in the video could be referring to the Rigi's with them "looking the same"... I've seen references around to them being Turner's finest works, too, so makes sense. I can't find anything obvious out about the owner - private collector and all that... not going to dig deeper just in case the info we find isn't related to the game!!!

(Just watching F1 free practice at the moment, looks like it's going to be a fun year with the new no refuelling rule!)

Edit: New update from Anna.
Oh Anna, you made my day with that. :D I'll try not to get overconfident, I promise! ::Wiggles, but not before stretching first::.

thought i'd better add a post in here to let the PMs know that i'm playing Cool seeing as it looks like our usernames here are going to be used IG.

also just a quick question, by using our usernames and linking from the site to here as a discussion forum, is everyone ok with this as technically UF should be considered OOG. i have no problem with it at the moment but it may cause issues later depending on where this thing goes, what say you all?

Based on previous experience, this is probably a non-issue. Games have often linked back to OOG resources where discussion takes place as a matter of convenience for people who stumble across the game if they don't want to deal with moderating a community themselves. 9 times out of 10, that's all that's done with the link.

Hi! :)

I can't see any logging in on www.secretlewis.com so am I bit confused as to what you mean, so I'm really sorry if I sound patronising to you in the next paragraph, I don't mean to be at all, just trying to help you and if anyone else is reading and confused :).

If you mean this website that we're on now that was linked from secretlewis, then register and get discussing... if you want to! This website isn't associated with secretlewis, and this is the only thread that will discuss the secretlewis ARG (alternate reality game) - the rest of the site is devoted to the discussion of similar games. Signing up here doesn't mean signing up to the game, just means that you have an account on a forum to discuss it. So you are not too late to the party at all in that case. If this is what you're asking then click register at the top to get started. But you don't need to register here to play if you don't want to.

So far Anna has given us a link on her blog on secretlewis.com to the Bahrain museum security system - there's a puzzle to solve to gain access and when you finish you're given a link to follow. That's where we are at the moment. =)

Sorry if I'm being a fail person, missing something and answered the wrong question...

Thank you very much for explaining, dont worry you didnt sound patronising at all Smile ive just gone back to secretlewis to find out where i actually read about logging in to play.. i cant find anything like you said. haha i dont even know how i came to that conclusion, i swear i read it somewhere! oh well. so on secretlewis we just have to complete every puzzle we are given? and are we given a new puzzle for every race of the season? i dont really understand the whole objective of the game either though i would still love to play as i am an avid lewis fan!! thanks again! Smile

Thank you! I always worry about things like that. Aaaahhhhh you may have read it in the terms and conditions, I think I remember seeing it there? Ooohh maybe there will be something log-in able at some point...

I think that's how its going to go - Anna investigates, gets stuck and asks us for help and we try and get the info she's after, ultimately helping Lewis out. In her last blog post she asked us to hang tight over the weekend so there might be an update tomorrow. It may or may not not be tied to race weekends - I hope not I want stuff to do when there's /not/ a race to watch ;D.

Gratz to Lewis on 3rd today! =]
