Save Carthage! No blood for elephants!

Well, all signs point to Cacade Vortex, and that would be wicked cool if it was. OK, bjc, I'm officially on the bandwagon.

Heh... I think my prediction might have come true as well... maybe

I think we'll be seeing something about either Labyrinth or Gorgon network in the next week.

Beth wanted to snoop around MLO's office because he "has access to the application." But she was distracted by the folder on James.

Marcus knows what she found - Kathy told him. But he writes to Walsh
Quote:
Thankfully, I do not believe that Beth McConnell stumbled across anything of significance during her brief foray. It is not my belief that she poses an ongoing threat to any internal operations.

So, even stuff about James is not very threatening. Plagues are a "distraction". Apparently, the only thing worth keeping in secret is "the application." Kathy's and Marcus' combined efforts result in Beth going away for a whole week - during which something will be done with Labyrinth (less likely, imo), Gorgon (more likely), or other, unknown software... I think... as I continue my attempts to grasp the storyline Confused

So, Labyrinth it is. The Metacortechs site informs us that Labyrinth project is progressing. Hopefully soon we'll have an update in either MLO's or Kathy's (or both) metadex. I'm also kinda looking forward to actually seeing the word "Minotaur" sometime.

Though, uhh... what do we do with that knowledge now?

Thanks very much. I am grinning like an idiot here Very Happy
...
I think the chance of predicting where the next event will be is now very good.
...
About when: We first need to nail down just when Beth's Alabama event occurred, and then we should have some hope of recognizing the temporal pattern she has recognized. I imagine Beth will be flying home shortly, hopefully in time to catch the next event in her neck of the woods.

No, I mean - if you guys predict (what is it? 103 now?) correctly - and I have full confidence in you - what can we do with that? How do we apply that to the game? Can it give us a website, or a login, etc.? I mean, there has to be some kind of purpose/reason for enabling us (I mean - you) to figure this out, right?

Yes I agree... I think there's no point in creating this pattern if we weren't meant to do something with it... although a lot of info up till now has done not a lot more than add to the storyline/plot... I hope this will bring us something though!

Btw, I'm a bit late, but still, hats off to you guys finding out the pattern and predicting Alabama... I'm amazed at the amount of ingenuity that's thrown at this game Smile

I'm also quite amazed at the scope and complexity of this game... how in the world do you come up with all this stuff, and keep it coherent and logical at the same time? Shocked

It's a good point, and it's not that easy to answer. However, Wix and Donkey Oatey did a good job of suggesting why it's important earlier in the thread. To paraphrase and embellish:

If we have a working model that can predict/explain where (and when ... it seems to me the two are intimately connected, but we haven't figured it out yet) paranormal occurrences happen, we stand some chance of figuring out how and why they are happening. What it suggests is a systemic flaw in reality, which might just be a big clue as to the nature of this reality.

But if I take your point a little differently, perhaps you're asking what we can do with that information ... what can we do about it? What can we do about any of the events we've seen unfolding? Not much it seems, as interacting with Beth and Co. doesn't seem to be on the cards (I imagine myself on the phone 'Beth, if you leave Laika with Katherine, you'll never see her alive again!'). So what are we trying to accomplish by solving puzzles etc.? Well, I think we're trying to figure out what's going on, and have a good time doing it Very Happy Unlocking the mystery that Beth is trying to unlock is as much fun or as likely to contribute to my understanding of 'what's going on' as any other puzzle for me.

But (you might object), if we just wait, we'll find out where the next event is, because Beth is going to show up there and tell us about it. Yeah, maybe. However, by constructing a functional model of where the events occur, we stand a better chance of understanding what they mean (in the bigger scheme of things) and sooner.

Ah, yes, I saw that post. Another thing for me to argue with DonkeyOatey about (very off-topic, though).

But it still makes sense. However, WE already suspect that Beth is in the matrix; proving it through finding a pattern in something that should be random is nice, but - as you notice - does little aside from adding to the storyline.

---------LATE EDIT---------
Actually, I know what would be really cool. MLO - or, at least - Kathy seem to "know" the pattern. It would be cool if the date/location of an "event" could serve as some access code to MLO's or Kathy's files, etc. Maybe even Walsh's.
