Sorry to necromance this thread from like a month ago, but I am so excited about this (it hadn't reached the second page quite anyway! Stop looking at me like that!)

If the trail is still hot then I shall follow, once I've got the net back up and running in my new place.

lurve the glados.

And remember, the game will resume in 21 days, 16 hours, and 44 minutes at E3.

And also Valve released Portal for free a while ago. I dunno if it's still free.

Looks like Valve cancelled the Portal 2 event... and Aperture Science have announced a "surprise"

Dear Subject Name Here,

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word "surprise", of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.

If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.

Thank you for <<RECORD>>

PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.

I'm suspicious, without some confirmed link to the extant content -- in addition to the use of blogspot and the overt Portal references calling for attention, the account was created in 09/2009. My assumption is the next event/progress will happen on the 14th, as GLADOS teased to gaming blogs.

As I stated in the other thread, this does not have the typical whimsical humor the past promotions have had. It feels like a "gamejack" or someone using the characters to their own end.

Portal 2 delayed until 2011:

Quote:
Valve says making games is hard.

Being in video game design myself, I can sympathize with that.

They reiterate the event change:

Quote:
Valve recently announced it canceled its E3 event for Portal 2 that was supposed to take place next week. The company said it has a surprised planned for the night instead.

Boo...?

Maybe old news, but I'm still holding out hope for something cool. :/

Edit: Oh... while i'm here. I got Portal when it was free, but the cool achievements (radio, camerashy) don't trigger for me. Anyone else have this issue?

Do tell...

@diszaster >> I know I got 'Camera Shy' to fire. (It's really easy to miss one or two.) Don't think I did 'Radio.'

@pancito Oh.... you have to get all of the cameras before the achievement shows up, huh?

@Wabonan: I cheated and looked at a walkthrough. I have radios in the right places only some of the time. I definitely don't have 26 radios or whatever lying around. But when I take the radio and move it to the spot, nothing triggers. Sad

No. I completed the radio achievement without completing the camera achievement.
