Hey, Scarf, watch your language Laughing

When *is* E3, anyway?

Electronic Entertainment Expo, it's one of the biggest video gaming conventions in the world. it's been pretty much closed off to the public the past few years, allowing only media heads to roam the place. irregardless, at least 10,000 media heads are attending the convention. they reveal upcoming games, and more often than not hype a lot of games.

if you already found this out via google, good job.

he asked when not what is it. lol

I'm going to politely disagree. For right now, there really isn't a lot going on. It was a wonderful virtual treasure hunt that paid off. There doesn't appear to be anything left to find, just spec to be had. However if we keep this thread nice and neat {for example people could stop nesting quotes for no reason} then we don't have to worry about how hard it may end up being to follow if/when new stuff comes up. Smile

E3, though I haven't been paying too much attention to it since it went actually decided to enforce the "media only" rule. Good for the guys running it, less interesting for outside spectators, given the people attending now seem to tell us something we already knew, or regurgitate PR campaigns.... and I forgot to even answer the question. Oops. June 15-17. (I decided to use the oracle of google this time)

As for not moving it, I think now is a little early to tell. Given it's been running for four days. Mind you, we've had two updates to the game. One ending change even, Pure Speculation, but if the rumoured March 11 is the actual pay-off date. We've probably got some more things coming.

Still, I do actually think one thread is good for now.

I don't know how much they enforce it nowadays... I went to E3 in 2000 and 2001; even though it was a "corporate" event only, you could make up a company and go under that name. I went under RedeemedSoft, which wasn't even an incorporated entity at the time.

Besides, E3 is not what it use to be anymore... There was a time when it was actually fun. Like "meet the Playmate of the Year, Julie Strain, Paulie Shore and Gary Coleman" kind of fun. Wink

The big changes where it became truly game professionals/media only started in 2006 & 2007 when it became invite only. I think that's the change lorD was refering to. BUT I thought this past one they dropped that and went back to normal.

Good God, why am I on IRC in #Portal instead of doing work? Back from the dead.

That is pretty much what I was referring to. If they have relaxed that again, I am unaware. Good if they have though. E3 might be fun again this year... but I doubt it.

So here's my issue right now. I had a not so legal copy of Portal that I played thru a LONG time ago. Since then I reformatted, and lost both the save game and copy of game. Last night, i purchased the game from steam.... so yay, i'm all legit.

I don't have radio's other than the one when you first wake up. I'm taking it that i have to play thru the game 100% once first? I mean, it would makse sense based on the line

1. I don't know whether or not you have to play through. I'm not aware of anyone else needing to do that, but I'm not sure how many people have just now purchased the game.
2. You don't mention whether
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
taking that first radio to the first button makes it start playing morse code.
And that's kind of important to know whether or not you even got the update. It may be that your download from steam is the base version and you still need to download the updates.

no, the first radio didn't have a red glowing light, nor did taking it to the correct place start the morse code.

I guess i should go check the steam site to see if there is a way to download the updates... Although, I thought I saw the achievement for the radio is in the list.

The cover of the next Game Informer was just revealed. It may be related, not directly to the puzzles, but to the result (Portal 2)

You need to complete it again before the radio shenanigans commence. But hey, who needs an excuse to play more portal! Very Happy

Interesting shot of the cover of Game Informer. I like the fact that they seem to be playing around with the portals. Labs and forests? Hmm.

Though I think it's a red-herring. A Steam News update about Portal 2 also happens has about fifteen characters underlined. Spec from other places seem to think it's a login/username for the BBS and they are right. New Ascii Art has surfaced.

This thing isn't done yet folks.

Meh, i'm in that small group that doesn't see it as having replay value. But i'll do it, because i hate not doing everything. Smile

Yeah. The underlined letters become login: drattman, password: H0nee. and it's for the BBS.

Actually, I also agree with you kind of, for replay value. I have completed it more than a couple of times, but I haven't played it in ages, so it acts as a good refresher for the new one, even though it's probably not coming out till later this year.
