Um, this may be minor, but I believe that "234567890" may be wrong... it could also be "534267890" reading left to right upside down, or 098762435 if rotated by 180 degrees.
And I haven't had the time to read through every thread but did you guys catch the 3 digit number on one of the lightcycles in the VFX trailer?
No worries- I saw a lot of people confused about it but I have a little experience with reading stuff upsdie down. Easier would have been simply to stick it into MS Paint and reverse it, and flip it of course. But that's too easy.

Okay, we're going way off topic here now. So, back to stuff int he trailer-
1. The morse code (it isn't but I'm calling it that for lack of a better term). I had a thought that it might be binary, similar to the chestplate deal. The trick would be figuring out the position of the dots.
2. 234567890 would seem to be obviously a deadend. Question is, why is there no 1?
3. Those strange patterns- they look really, really familiar but I dunno where from.
Not ruling out that this indeed a clue...but taking the photo into illustrator or photoshop and putting it into a grid...the dots are not equidistant so you can not "group" them into groups of "3" (trying to interpolate if there are "off" dots) like the chestplate. so it "seems" as if this was "rendered" in perspective as part of the movie. carry on...just wanted to let you know I did this. thanks.

I really think Three is a key number here... way earlier on in the main thread someone mentioned everything involving the number three - it was quite the coincidence. and now three come up again... I don't know, just something to keep in mind.

Oh, I wholly agree that they are rendered in a curve. If you watch the trailer, ou can see them travelling from left to right. But even then, the distance isn't equal. It looks more like something we don't need to concern ourselves with, but...I'm too suspicious. Most of the puzzles seem to be obvious that they are puzzles, though the solutions are difficult to find. But they occasionally throw a curveball, so I want to keep an eye out for those.

After reading this thread, I think I finally understand how conspiracy theories are formed. Honestly guys, let's say you do find some meaning to the semi-random placement of lights in a scene... What would you do with them? There's nothing else going on in the game right now. (And seriously, /derez is just a leftover web page.)
Basically, you're going on the ASSUMPTION that there's a hidden message to find in the trailer, based on the ASSUMPTION that you need to find codes for /derez (even though it's not referenced anywhere except from way back at Comic-Con), based on the ASSUMPTION that there's still unsolved puzzles.
tl;dr - *facepalm* Just don't come complaining if you don't find anything.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Who's complaining? It's part of the fun, at least for me, to try to figure out even if it turns out that nothing is there. I mean, if I didn't find this kind of thing fun, I wouldn't be doing ARGs at all.

Sorry, I had done this that night on IRC and forgot to post it.

For the sake of viewer plausibility, you can't assume the events of the film just start on the release date of the film. Assuming the starting point of the count up is ~Nov. 6, 1989 then what time does that make the film's events? About the 25th of October?
True... I found on the Encom International site that Kevin Flynn "abandoned Encom" on July 26, 1989... I would imagine that would be the approximate time he left the physical world. Counting from THERE would put the events of the movie in mid-July of 2010 (about 10 days short of 21 years).
Hey, that's right about when San Diego Comic-Con happens...

Taking a cue from the only other ARG I've played (Year Zero) - has anyone the software to visualize the glitchy sound during the title shot? Last time I heard that kind of noise, there was hidden information in it.

You know, I kept hearing that too but I thought it might have been something to do with my speakers. Silly now that I think about it- I've got good speakers. That's a good suggestion. Any takers?
So, Nikki- where ya been this game?
