Rednaxella - thanks for posting Poe´s poem, I defy anyone who´ve ever read it to see The Matrix and not think about it!

Jeromy, how about the lake turning red? Incidently, red is the complimentary color to green, "the color of the matrix" - coincidence?

Piggy

I notice that the title of the most recent weblog entry is "Piggybacked memories" and she mentions a piggybank in the entry.

I tried doing /memory/memory, memories/memories, and other variations thinking that this would be piggybacked memories.

Don't know if it's anything, any ideas?

Have you ever noticed how lyric searches on the net are really crap. They rarely find what you want, but manage to spawn dozens of popus to keep you occupied. They often ask you the artist and song title, but in most cases you have a snippet of song and want the artist.

Anyway, you probably mean "Memories...like the corner of my mind...misty water colored memories...of the way we were...".

I think it could be Karen Carpenter, but it's just a guess. Like I said, I haven't got the patience (with lyric engines) to look it up.

night.html Dina N

Quote:
This blank slate here inside my skull is frustrating me. In dreamland this place is dark and close, a nursery rhyme of candle and nimble, quick and I hope it sticks. It's an old chalkboard, this expanse of darkboard. Old, old, old. I can see the scratchmarks and indentations, the pockmarks of time passing over its surface. There are D'Nealian guide lines permanently etched into the slate -- these are my patterns and my habits, my beliefs and my love, from age of sunshine and sticky hands to age of checkbooks and reality television.

the nursey rhyme is
Quote:
Jack Be Nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candle stick

could JR be Jack???

Barbra Streisand - Way We Were - 1974

Quote:
Mem'ries,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
Mem'ries, may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were...

Someone on IRC (I'd give credit, but I don't remember who it was, very sorry) said that JR = JR Ewing from the TV show Dallas. Ethan's just making a joking reference, since Dallas is where he's going that day. Very Happy Not to say that it isn't also a hint...

not yet morning

not yet morning

not yet morning

Why?

Probably because the "Not Yet Morning" is supposed to point us to "night.html"

Since this hidden html was probably available since the time this website went active, I'd say it's a clue for us to find "night.html" When we didn't find it (duh duh duh), they included the double-letters in her most recent post to point it out to us.

We're a little slow sometimes Smile

On Beethoven.html, Dina mentions Tabula Rasa. I didn't know what that was, so I googled...it means "blank slate"...the "nurture" side of the natuve vs. nurture argument. Check out this site:

http://www.disenchanted.com/dis/lookup.html?node=1850

[Edited to include more info]

Also...it seems to me that the digital boxes imagery that Dina is describing in the beethoven.html page sounds a lot like this Wongmo background.

I think this all centered around (if i recall correctly) Kant's blankslate theory (we are born knowing nothing)

Actually, its filetime matches up with the other 29th/30th updates.

But.. beethoven.html has been around since approx. the 26th, I swoe I looked for beethoven.jpg when we first discovered ethan/dina, but I think I only tried on ethan, and not on dina.. sad when its such a close miss (beethoven.jpg since the 24th)

I thought on the home page ( http://dina.thenekodas.com ) wintry, spring-like; summery, but no autumnal was what lead us there. This would mean that it was there right from the start. I could be wrong though.
