I honestly wouldn't bother with trying to hack the voicemail box. That rarely (if ever) leads anywhere. As I stated in the main Arcade Aid thread, I'm going to be calling and notifying them of my close proximity to St. Louis. I'll probably mention my affiliation with Flynn Lives. Anything else I should tell them to possibly pique interest?

Tomorrow I intend to call as a corporate entity, Darklight Interactive (an "interactive media agency"), which is interested in acquiring some of their vintage stand up models for the employee lounge of our software development group.

Our programmers are eccentric, and they would really love one of those "old school" machines.

Very Happy

You aren't saying that I "have" to press 2 in order for my message to get through are you? 'Cause, I just hung up like I would with any other voice mail system.

That's so funny. I did the exact same thing, and that was before I even knew about this thread.
I also identified myself as a member of Flynn Lives, and asked if they were interested in officially supporting the cause.
Left my phone number as well of course.

I'm not sure if the message is sent without pressing one. I discovered the "send, save, and discard" by accident. I had already sent them two messages before this.

I realized too late that the site was asking us to request a set of decals. So that's is why I called a second time. Then I started dabbling with number presses when the phone answered and I found out about the send message option by accident. I hope they don't get all 3 messages from me.
I only wanted to send them one I knew they would get, if they actually get them. If they send out decals for these arcades that would be so awesome.

Now that I think about it some more, I'm sure pressing 2 isn't necessary. They want people to enjoy and feel compelled to participate, so why would they why do something that changes a process that has become second nature to the entire country.

I suspect the fact that you can review and basically choose how your message sounds implies that you might want to compose it for possible republication. It would also make a good filter for people stumbling onto the site who don't know it's part of this 'game'. Would also tend to trap and eliminate a lot of automated calls that result from bots scouring the web for numbers to spam call.

My advice is to be sure you preview your message and save it by pressing the appropriate numbers.

I got a funny feeling that is what they intend to give to the people who provided the with name address and phone number info.

I did just that...just now. Left my address, phone number, and even my user name I use for the Flynn Lives. Even if it's nothing, still fun! Very Happy[/quote]

Called & reviewed my message for Arcade Aid. Said I was part of the Flynn Lives movement in Southern California and was looking for game posters. Left my number..... let's see if that draws some interest.

Left my message. Warning him about the rise of video games posing as slot machines here in Vegas....what a great way to pick up loose change.

Oh, and asked about some Flynn Lives bumper stickers.

Cool

I called again. Essentially left the same message but explained I was calling again because "I heard from some other people that they were having trouble with the mailbox and just wanted to make sure you got my message."

; )

Really? They are making video games that look like slot machines - but of course they don't pay out? Wow. Not too long ago the concern was the video poker and such that looked too much like video games kids play. Now they've realized a video game that never pays back can be more profitable than a slot machine that does?

Anyway, I like your thinking! I guess this is a good opportunity to give subtle suggestions to the PMs about simple things we could all have the chance to get or participate in.

Actually, what I meant was that the slot machines look like video games (which is what you said). Course, what I said sounds better as a conspiracy theory.

It's amazing some of the themes they are using for video slots these days. TV shows are quite popular. Overheard was a wife saying to her husband "oooh, I love Sex and the City" as she pointed to a SATC video slot game.

I have played the Star Trek one a few times (classic trek film clips periodically show up on the screen above the machine).

Has anyone left a message with the number of the cellphone retreived in the PitCell mission?
