See, here's my thing... IMO, there's no "cheating" in and ARG (generally speaking). Because of the dynamic relationship between player and PM, ultimately whatever happens is, in theory, fair game. That is to say, if 'honest' players are effectively 'cheated' out of a reward, the PMs can adjust somehow to ensure that it's rectified and players are still rewarded accordingly, if they see fit.

I would not be upset (nor surprised) if these badges were removed after said possible bug was fixed. But if the badges remain, then either two things: 1) TPTB felt it was fine that all receive the badge or that was the intent from the beginning, or 2) TPTB found some other way to reward the 'honest' players. Neither case presents a reason that any players should be labeled 'cheaters' by other players. Cheating requires rules to be willingly broken. Since no rules have been laid here, there's no cheating.

Fair - now that's a different matter... fairness is subjective, and how PMs treat situations where some players feel unfairly treated can make a big difference. In this case, some players feel the fair thing to do would be to correct this potential bug so that only players who physically first collected and entered codes get the badge. Given the wording on the badge, I would support this. But no, I wouldn't label anyone who tried one of the codes and received the badge a "cheater".

But the whole idea of cheating in an ARG is a touchy subject anyway, dealing with game mechanics and competition and community and all that...
Ultimately, if there is no reward in the end affected by this badge, then it doesn't matter anyway. =)

Very well put, Shad0 & Euchre, I consider it as a 'consolation' for all of those fans whom were able to 'be part of the viral campaign in person' and for those whom couldn't.

As far as cheating is concerned, that's the truth. There's no logging of these things. Even if you've connected them to FB, it's VERY simple for them to adjust who gets what achievements, and if some/any/all disappear because they want them gone, well...them's the breaks. We're playing their game. They make the rules. If it's not a bug, then they intended this. If it is a bug, then it will be fixed (unless they don't want to, and then it's back to them intending it).

I completely agree with the above comments about this not being "cheating" and that the "Game Masters" can make any any adjustments they see fit after the fact anyway.

That said, would anyone be willing to PLEASE PM me a code that hasn't been posted elsewhere so I could try to get a "Gridlock Rendezvous" badge? Very Happy

... So now I need to find a real photo of myself. But I don't have one! *sigh*

Yes, mine was waiting for me when I returned from vacation.

Nothing different from what has already been reported.

So... Anybody else who got to the infiltrate page on the first day, ordered up a badge, lives in California and still hasn't received it while the site reports, "You have already created a badge."

Or am I just "Speshul".

I'm not gonna go hang out in "The City" if "Peanut Gallery" is the best I can hope for.

Why do I suspect you only take vacations to build your anticipation for the cool ARG swag you will have received when you return home?

Did anyone have a problem entering their event code to get the OPERATION TRON achievement badge?

I entered the code and it said "Your code was accepted" but the badge does not show on my achievements page. I tried entering it again and it said "That code has already been entered"

So it took my code ok the first time but not showing the badge. Is there a time delay before it actually shows up? Anyone?

Log out and log back in. I had to do that in order to get the achievement to show up.

So, does anyone that used my solution for getting the "gridlock" badge want to give back and PM me the code for the Encom event? Pretty please?
