So I'm trying to make an Encom employee badge but I can't find a scan of the front or back of the badge. Originally I was going to get scrapbook paper to do the background but I can't find one close enough to the pattern. And it'll be easier to do the foil with a print out anyways.

So, can anybody help me out and post a scan?

Here ya go. Warning that I did these in HIGH quality so you could get the most out of them. Each file is about 25 mb. I also threw in a wallpaper that appears to be either the file they used for the background, or made from that file. Just right click and save as on the links.

**EDIT** Ok, so after I made the scans I started playing in photoshop. If you wait for a bit I'll post a cleaned up and edited file where you can just paste in your image and print. Well we will still have to figure something out for the hologram sticker and foil, but as far as the stock image I'll try and get that done tonight once I'm outta school. Almost late now cuz I got carried away playing with it... lol all your fault. =)

OMG you're awesome. I'm working on some ways to foil these guys up so hopefully I'll have a tut or something up by the end of the weekend. Thank you so much! Very Happy

No problem. I know how it feels to miss out on some of this great memorabilia. There are a few things I wish I had managed to get my hands on; like the bits and some of the sdcc stuff.

Ok so I have managed to produce a fairly good duplication of the member badges in Photoshop. The only things that are not close to accurate are the holograph sticker and the foil; for obvious reasons. You'll also notice that my badge had some scratches on the sticker, so those scratches carried over in the scan.

Alright Velocity, the balls in your court now. Hopefully we can get some good ideas rolling for the foil. Also, I vaguely remember seeing someone post a good scan of the holo sticker here a while back. If we can get that, or a cleaner scan of it then I can update the file.

One more thing that's nice about these badges is all the text is editable, so it is simple to not only change your member name and id but your level of clearance as well. Oh, and when you decide to print these make sure in the print settings you scale the width down to 7.25cm. I tried making the actual image file smaller but the printed quality went down during print.

I helped Rogi make a custom badge awhile back and the way I got around the logos were to replace them with solid white logos. I recreated the Encom E for the back and the full logo for the front in Illustrator then dropped them on top of my hi-res scan in Photoshop. Rogi took a silver ink pen and filled in the white after printing them. You can see his sample next to the guest pass he got here:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=20796

I can get you the files I made if you're interested.

Vouching for Robbie's scans. The hologram came out quite well compared to any other attempts I've seen.

As for the small size on mine, I went with the size someone gave me on the forums, as my real badge hadn't come to me, yet.
The actual (paper) size of my valid badge is 72.2mm x 111.1mm (Roughly 2⅞ x 4⅜").
The overall dimension is 82.2mm x 130.1mm (Roughly, 3⅛" x 5⅛").

So, I have to ask... Did anyone else attempt to create an "S. Flynn" badge using Garret Hedlund's picture? They caught and stopped every attempt I made on my son's account (He's known to the game as "Seamus Flynn".) so he never got a badge as I won't let him use his picture "on the internet". Embarassed

Dude, that beats my original idea. My sis says there is printable foil too so I'm going to see if there is any at the Staples. Combining the two may yield a kickass replica!

I will try and get them up shortly. I don't have access to the files right now but once I get off I can upload them unless Rogi has easy access to them and doesn't mind.

I definitely think if we combine all our efforts we can get a pretty good replica. I've already got a legit badge, but it is fun working to get this together for everyone else.

perhaps we can use a method like this? Just have to find a place that sells a foil similar to what we need.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4155635612151588199#

or this

http://www.papilio.com/metallic%20gold%20silver%20transfer%20foil%20blue%20green%20red.html

or

https://www.modellodesigns.com/editor/files2/Metallic%20Foil%20Info%20Flyer_0909.pdf

Many options, but seems like a foil type transfer is the way to go.

Thanks guys. I'll more than likely make use of your remakes of the foil parts. Seems like a perfect starting point if I can figure a way to do the foil transfer. As far as the holo goes, I am probably going to try and get another scan of it. I liked how my scanner came out. Printed real nice too (minus the scratches). What DPI did you do your scan at? I did 600. increased the quality a bit. Below is a comparison showing you what I mean. Yours is on left mine is on right. Seems like your scanner picked up more of the holo portion. Might be the difference in amount of light our scanners use.

It's been awhile so I can't remember for sure, but it was either 400 or 600 DPI. I tweaked the levels in Photoshop to get it to look like that too, it was initially a little duller.
