I hope someone is going to bring a vieo camera? I didn't see anything about not bringing one (it IS supposed to be a press conference, after all) so I'd like to experience it a little through that at least.

Hazado's going to be streaming via his phone. We've got a page set up here with his ustream, the ustream chat for his feed (which he'll be able to see on his phone) and the normal #flynnlives IRC all on the one page.

Assuming they're not gonna be metal-detecting everyone before entry.

Can you say, "Ass-iPhone"? Mr. Green

It's awesome that there's an actual pre-rally meeting at the Hyatt Regency.

Be cool too, to have uF people group together before or at the FL meeting.

What do you guys think?

Did anyone else read Alan Bradley's new e-mails? It hints at someone else maybe making it to SF. This is pure speculation on my part, but wouldn't that be Lora (Cindy Morgan)?

"Saturday, March 27th, 2010, 11:09am

Good news - looks like my schedule is clearing up. I might (emphasis MIGHT) be able to join you at the press conference. Fingers crossed...
Get home soon - it's Saturday!

Blink see my reply to your cross-post in the carpool thread. Anyone wanting to understand what's in proper context and how you should conduct yourself at such events should read the post too.

It's not entirely clear if Alan stayed with Lora for all of these years. Some of the fans of the original film have been campaigning to have Lora put into the new film somehow, which at this point in production I would imagine is pretty near impossible. It might not surprise me if as some consolation she was included in the ARG - assuming they're still together. If she shows up, that'll be a huge testament to the power of the fan base. It'd also be icing on the cake for those who can make it to the event, and make participating in this game in general a real prize for we Tron fans.

I wrote this to Flynn Lives two days ago:

"Hello.
My father and I are driving up to San Francisco from L.A. to infiltrate
the Encom Press Conference. However, my father's employee badge has yet to arrive. I have mine, though. Will this be a problem? Also, I saw on
the Encom Employee Intranet that Encom has a strict dress code. Do you
think this will be enforced at the press conference, and will we need to
dress formally/semi-formally to remain incognito?"

and just got this reply

"Thanks for the note. We don't believe this event is going to be so formal, so just wear normal casual attire. Also, the employee badge isn't required (general public is invited), although if you have yours, you and your dad can get into the special Encom Employee section. We need all the volunteers we can get, so see you there.
FLYNN LIVES"

so i guess there's the answer to the dress code part...Flynn Lives wouldn't give us information that conflicts with what will be enforced clothing-wise by Encom, right?

also, how about we meet at that fountain at 6pm and all head into the Hyatt together?

I don't think they are going to exclude you if you show up in less than perfect Encom dress code, but the point is in the spirit of the game if you are really going for being an infiltrator it'd be better to adhere as closely to it as possible. Remember that the Encom dress code isn't all that strict anyway, and isn't 'suit and tie' or even business formal. Primarily I think they want to stay away from logos on clothing that they might need to obscure (intellectual property conflicts with non-Disney companies), and from less than 'family friendly' appearance. Some of their mention of personal hygiene makes me wonder if there's an um... certain sort of 'fan' they are trying to communicate with. (IE "Get out of mom's basement long enough to get a shower before you show up to the event with your Vulcan ears, Spiderman shirt, and plumber crack jeans!")

I'd feel a lot better about going if I at least could get some kind of a temporary ID. I don't think I could handle the disappointment of being left out of the employee activities. And it seems like that's exactly where things are going. Why does it always have to be so hard to play?
I can't be an employee or an infiltrator so, it's either "random crowd dude" or "unwashed middle-aged gamer dude on a mission to demand answers about Flynn.". The former, frankly, sucks and the latter seems to go against the flow of the gameplan. Either way, I'm no more a part of the game than somebody who happens to be walking down the Embarcadero. Woohoo. Rolling Eyes

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but apologies if it's already been discussed...

Anyone see the chat between Alan and Hardington in the RDP from 3/30? Hardington's concerns over Alan bring up the "past" and talking about Flynn is interesting. It sounds like this isn't the first time they've had this discussion. I think we're in for more good info during Alan's speech than just the company line.

So San Francisco is 8 hours behind GMT, is that right?

Also, can someone explain IRC to me? Played a few games where that's been involved and it's probably the one thing I've never taken part in.

Some people claim it's hard to play, but at least you LIVE near the events going on! What about us east coasters that aren't anywhere near California? At least you guys can physically BE there. I'm a huge Tron fan, and I'm very excited for this ARG, and for something to actually physically DO in my area. Hopefully there'll be more in the treasure hunt vein soon.

Yup, so 6:15 pm there is 2:15 am here. And I agreed to moderate the chat, for some reason!

If you're going to be using the big page* then the IRC box there is really simple, just type a username into the box and hit "connect". The password box is only for those who already use IRC in some capacity.

*Sorry to keep linking it, but I want to drill it into everyone's heads before the event, preferably Razz

BTW, my guess, from what I saw on the forum post, is that they'll be giving away shirts and posters, and those will have codes on them (probably under blacklight) that will unlock an achievement. So, those shirts/posters are gonna be the key for anyone not there.

I also doubt they'll give them to anyone w/o a badge, and they'll probably not give more than one to each person with one.

I just hope they continue to do these at various locations between now and the end, so you can get a "rally" achievement or something.

Kudos to all the organization those who can attend are putting in. Does anyone know if it's easy to capture Hazardo's stream?
