Who is The Operator? I understand that there are striking similarities between The Operator and the Slenderman, I am not naive. My question is, has Troy or Joseph made it clear in an interview, entry, or something else of that nature that The Operator is just another name for the Slenderman?

Don't try searching too far.
Operator is Slenderman.

In text interviews, whenever someone would type Slender Man, Troy would replace it with "The Operator". It's probably because Slender Man is just the concept, and the Operator brings it into a full character.
This is now a fun off-topic thread about guessing the identity of the Operator.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you, Terrible Trivium. I think it's the 204 9 Denver Broncos. There are rumors Jay loves football.

I AM the operator.

The Operator is based on Slenderman. There are differences in the Mythos.
The name was changed to The Operator to give them leeway to change the way it acts.

Actually, I think I should be the first one to say that no one has any idea why they call him The Operator. If anyone can link me to anything of them saying why they call him that I'll buy it, but I'm pretty sure we don't actually know why they don't just say Slender Man.

Q: Who "played" [The Operator]? Was it a costume/digital effect/both?
Me: We're not really ready to reveal how we did it, as it will probably ruin some of the magic. I will say, however, that we do not own a mannequin. Those things are expensive.
In both Q&A interviews, they replace all uses of "Slender Man" with "The Operator", and they also refer to him as that in the radio interview.
Slender Man is the concept created at SomethingAwful in a paranormal image creation thread. Troy saw this and decided to make his series based off of it (you can probably find his original related post somewhere).
While Slender Man is the concept, The Operator takes that and changes it into a full character with its own attributes, styles, motives and choices, different from that of the concept.

Thanks dude! That's what I sort of figured, but I wasn't too sure. I'd like to understand the identity of the main antagonist before trying to solve anything else haha.

According to some around here, there's no proof that the Operator is the main antagonist. I don't think it's terribly likely, but there you have it. If the Operator isn't malicious, he needs to like, wear pink or something. That would help.

Well, I consider The Operator to be completely neutral right now. He doesn't seem to have an agenda of any kind. All we know is that he appears randomly and makes people forget things.

He's also caused people's faces to bleed, cause large coughing fits, seizures, insanity, etc

He's the antagonist whether or not he's implicitly or explicitly evil. The term "antagonist" is a narrative description that applies to characters that cause conflict for the main character (the protagonist). When the cops chase Bond during a car chase, they're antagonists even though Bond and everyone involved knows that the cops are good guys.
On-topic: No one really knows why he's the Operator instead of Slender Man. I'm personally glad that he is though, because an enigmatic name is better for a horror story than a silly name that sounds like it was made up by someone on Something Awful.
