That spaceparanoids.com is some space paranoids app somebody is writing. I'm a little surprised he got the space paranoids name, curious if this will end up as a future case. That site can be written off as non-ARG material. More than likely they would release Paranoids as spaceparanoidsonline.com or something similar.

Anybody think it may originate from the RDP? There is an entry in the list of programs at the end that says "Alpha SP 0.1.2"

Awesome thought. While it's not likely that the intended primary way to join the production online game would be through an RDP connection, stuff goes wrong with software development all the time and the alpha/beta versions may be available to US even if the "launch" is delayed for some reason.
Worth watching, for sure.

Yeah, I work with VPNs all the time and I agree. Can't wait to see the game though.

To be honest, I would be shocked if SPO did not premiere as a facebook app of sorts. While they don't want to tick off core ARG players, I doubt they could pass up the saturation and ease of connecting with end users offered by FB. They also already have a core to disseminate the game on FB (those on FL that have linked their FB account).

On the flip side, they didn't premiere the trailers on FB, but that was also earlier in the game. and they may not want to upset their core audience by exposing it to mass audiences on FB before they have had their fair peek.

I'm probably wrong, usually am ^^

I'm hoping that they go out and say, "We're getting ready to roll out SPO, but still need some in-house debugging. At this time, anyone with Group Two, Three, and Seven access can join the Alpha Testing group at the following web site (linky). Once we get some of the kinks out of Flynn's decades-old coding, we can go to Open Beta..."

That would let them give first dibs on the game to the ARG players, then shift to a more public forum like Facebook for the 'saturation' effect.

Sent an email off to the address listed in the press release fishing for an invite to Beta testing.

I'll post the results, if any.

Edit: Stock form reply about interviewing Alan Bradley at the press conference.

In other words: Likely an unmonitored email address with auto-reply.

Sad

Don't lose hope. People who inquired about badges at the event got customized replies back.

Anyone else thinking, that as long as SPO comes out fairly soon, we might be seeing some sort of live competition/tournament at San Diego Comic-Con...?!

Also, E3 is just around the corner as well, in June. I think there might be a chance that SPO can make an appearance there (alongside Tron: Evolution, perhaps).

I would be very much unsurprised if Encom had a presence at E3. Whether it's a more general presence, a similar "press conference" event or something to do with SPO, I dunno, but there's a good chance they'll be there.

is E3 even going to be a big puplic event? I thought they'd backed off a bit on the hugeness? Space Paranoids has the chance of being a good draw, but I'm doubting it will be a main attraction. Just my thoughts of course.

i think that Tron Evolution will for sure be at E3, but Flynn Lives/Encom not so much...if at all. The reason being that (according to the E3 site) it's an industry-only event and you have to have connections to get in (as well as $400).

Not that I'm saying it'll happen, but there's nothing stopping a public event from happening outside E3, in its vicinity... just as happened with SDCC and Wondercon... that would attract non-attendees and paid press attendees. just sayin'

thing is...at least imo, downtown LA isnt like downtown SD or SF...its large and theres not much there except staples center, the convention center, a shopping area, and the music center. its mostly office buildings, not a place where people go for interest (which i think downtowns should always be)...it just isnt the same because its not gonna draw non-industry people that arent from socal like comic con and wonder con do.
