i'm actually not sure what they meant when they said they were re-issues. the mp3's are the same. maybe they just said it in case during the time between meetings someone downloaded them and listened to them without reference?

I did a file comparison of old vs new- there is, in fact, a difference. If you got 'em before, I'd re-get them before Monday because it appears the content has changed a bit.

ok so it turns out i have work Monday from 2:30-6:30. so i can make it but not until around 7:30. This shouldn't be too bad since the new members wont need to be there until 6:30 and it took us at least an hour to finish it. better late than never!

Track 1- MD5 sum is different, as is the actual # of bytes in the file, though not a significant enough change to alter the displayed size in the directory.

Listening to it, also a minor change.. minor, but important I believe.

Having done this before, I just flat out listened to it. I caught one difference, and I think I get why. For those at the first one,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it has to do with the coin's lie! The lie has been stamped out. (See what I did there?)

So yeah, if you didn't make the first one but downloaded the stamps/mp3s back then, re-download and have the most recent versions with you. For sure.

Hey, guys! If you got one of Shady Gaga's X-of-6 postcards, can you make it on Monday? I'll bring mine and we'll make sense of these once and for all!

Witness Account of Numismatic Masked Bicyclist

Hello excellent stamp-lovers. I'm Larry, one of the two folks claiming to be stamp club applicants who was first-on-scene at the Transbay Terminal. Here's what I remember about that. Give it as much credence as you would any eyewitness account.

Girts and I were walking from the trail-end kiosk back to the obelisk. I vaguely think we were across the street from Rincon Center when Girts got an SMS about activity the transbay terminal.

We walked over to the transbay terminal. There was a figure in black. He was facing the terminal, kneeling down, kowtowing. I suppose he was kowtowing to his chalk drawing, or perhaps to the Norton plaque.

When Girts and I approached, he stepped behind a column. Girts went around one side, I went around the other. Black-clad figure dude was getting onto a bike. He was pretty slow about it, perhaps expecting us to address/accost him in some way. But we didn't really do that. I, for one, was rather unsure what was a legit thing to do, under the circumstances.

He moseyed out on his bike and rode away. We noticed a box on the back of his bike. It had lights on the sides and a circle-thingy in back. I thought at first it might be a camera lens, then changed my mind to speaker. I think Girts said he had similar thoughts. If, later on, a video shows up w/two goofballs staring directly at the camera with slackjawed expressions, as if trying to figure out what the circle-y doohickey was, then you know it was a camera.

I think Girts said that he heard words coming from the box?

Bike dude rode away. Girts and I started to look at the coins.

A guy asked for change. I gave him some coins. Maybe he was a coin collector. But he seemed nice. Girts was more careful and only handed over paper money.

We were further distracted when someone explained that he was here from Louisiana something something something and wanted to sell us some acid to finance his ride to somewhere else. We said no thanks. In hindsight, perhaps we should have asked for some stamps, but it seemed sketchy.

We looked at the coin/chalk stuff on the ground. I picked up the "small change" nickel and put it back pretty much as I found it. Then y'all showed up.

Hope that helps! Sorry I wasn't playing closer attention as it happened. Hopefully Girts will speak up w/a clearer account.

I don't recall much more than what Larry said above. The device on the bike was indeed playing some sounds as the bicyclist took off.

Nice meeting you all!

So I was trying to recall where else coinage came up so far..hobo coins obviously..but wasnt there some "token" or coin in between act II and III?
could that be in any way connected?
Just a thought.

it was good seeing everyone tonight

I look forward to looking over the files we discovered.

I also plan on scanning or posting the text from my Numbered postcard...so we can figure out the whole message. it seems like the go end to end

I called about 20 minutes before you G-Messaged me, and the mailbox was working. Maybe too many people were calling at once when you called? I left Mr. Peppersnatcher a description of my car, and explained that I never lock it, so he can always leave written correspondence for me in my car. I also gave him a phone number, in case he wants to get me stuff that way.

I'm going to put the contents of the memory card we found in the hollowed-out nickel into my Dropbox. Anyone who wants access send an email to me at jackofchanceSPLATgmail.com.

today was cray-zay! the plot thickens!

the phone number provided in the text (which i got 3 times) works but the number that sent it don't accept calls. or at least sends you to a full mailbox.

I'll see if i can upload a non-shakey video of me trying to chase the numismatist on his bike.

if it was a speaker and not a camera i wonder what it was playing.

can you upload it as a zip to megaupload or something and post the contents here? i think it's fine if non EPS members see the contents.

I can do that, but maybe long-term a Dropbox account is better? Since each of us (you especially, Everfalling) seems to be getting different stuff from the EPS, we can start scanning and sharing things.

In the meantime, I'll .zip it up and put it somewhere, but the offer of Dropbox sharin' is still out there.

After reading that flyer from everfalling...it got me thinking of things that can go thru the mail system in unconventional packaging.
Coconuts for one...those lil bottles for themed invitations.

I found this website that talks about experiments done for mailing things:
http://improbable.com/airchives/paperair/volume6/v6i4/postal-6-4.html

there are alot of other sites on mail art and naked mail...

there's an update on the stamps website which includes a page with the poster i handed out (so if you didn't get one never fear)

http://stampsfromelsewhere.com/objects/objects.html

also the telephone number to call and leave your contact info so you can be sent texts of future ENS movements.
