 		[CWoT] The Invasion is here - Scavenger Hunt
Welcome to Invasion II

Invasion is a team based scavenger hunt that spans the world. There can be an unlimited number of teams involved, with one team leader per team. Each team must also have a Second In Command. Any leader or second can recruit new players to his/her team at any point throughout the game, and the more geographically diverse your team becomes, the better chance you have when it comes to winning a round. All team members are responsible for finding new members to add to your teams. The team leader and second in command are the ones who can officially approve a new team member and will be responsible for notifying and administrator so that the new team member can be given access to you private team threads.

This isn't as simple as obtaining a list of items to find. CWoT has never worked that way! Only one item will be on the menu at a time, and the teams will have to solve a complex riddle before they can discover what that item is. Once the riddle is solved and the item is located, the team is required to present proof that they have completed the scavenger hunt round.

What constitutes proof? Well, this is where it gets really fun. Proof is obtained in the form of a photo emailed to
invasionSPLATcleverwasteoftime.com . Now, CWoT has always been about cheap, quality entertainment. We aren't interested in making our players spend a ton of money to play our games. This is where having a diverse team comes in handy. Once you have solved the riddle, have the geographically closest member obtain the proof. If, for example, the riddle sends you after the Eiffel Tower, have one of your team members in Paris obtain the photo. Be careful, though! We understand that it may be difficult for every team to recruit a member close enough to the Eiffel Tower to make a trip worth it. We understand that it may cost money to travel to the Eiffel Tower. This is where recruitment comes in handy. Post in Paris-based forums asking for help in obtaining the pic. Ask a family member or friend to take the pic for you if they are closer. The person who takes the pic does not have to be an Invasion team member, but the pic must contain your specific Invasion team sign and Round information or it will not be accepted. More clarification on this point later. You may recruit the person who takes the pic to your Invasion team at any time except in the event of a tie breaker round. Or you may simply forward their original email to your team leader or second in command, who will then forward all the emails to us for credit. A round is not complete until the correct pic has been received. The first team to submit the correct pic is the Round winner. The time stamp on the emails we receive constitute who submitted first.

The team member can be pictured in front of the Eiffel Tower, or the picture can be of the Eiffel Tower alone. (We understand some players would rather remain anonymous.) The picture absolutely must contain a sign or card, clearly visible and legible in English, stating the team name, the date, the name of the target/landmark and which Invasion Level the item is intended to be the solution for. The target item/landmark must be visible and identifiable in the pic and the sign must physically be within the pic as well. This is to insure that the pic is authentic and the submitting team took all the necessary steps to obtain it. Each team that solves the riddle portion before the winning pic is submitted will receive a point for that accomplishment, but the round is not over until the winning pic is submitted.

The winning team will be determined by the date and time stamp on the email containing the correct picture with the correct information. The email is not valid unless it is submitted by a Team Leader or Second In Command and contains all forwarding information from the source of the original pic. Once the winner of the level is determined, the winning picture and team information will be publicly posted and that level will be declared dead. The winning team will then have 24 hours to decide amongst themselves when they would like the next round to be released. This gives the winning team an advantage because they can ask that the round be released at a time when most of the team members can be on line at the same time to get the clue and get to work.

 		Yes, Invasion I was quite enjoyable. I never posted about it because it seemed from the CWoT thread most unforumers were boycotting anything relating to CWoT as a result of disliking the way CU approached concerns about spoilers.

 		Invasion III is starting in 2 weeks. Please read Stiffygal's post below. The Cerebral Assassins came in 3rd out of four teams playing in Invasion II. We lacked coverage and towards the end we only had five or six active players. The majority of the scavenger hunt sites were in the UK and the US but we also had sites in Spain, Greece, Australia.

The puzzles are challanging and the adrenaline level can get pretty high as the teams race to get their photos in first. If this sounds like fun to you please come play Invasion III with us.

Hello All,
I joined unfiction ages ago (the first CTW) but have mostly been a lurker. Sometimes I don't have the time to fully immerse into ARGs but I always read these timewasters. This February I read IP Freely's description of Invasion and thought the idea was awesome. The group solving and photo hunt requires worldwide group participation which is my favorite aspect of ARGs. I joined up and basically picked the team that had names I recognized from unfiction on it.
I picked the Cerebral Assassins and have had a lot of fun. The rounds involved different things like: researching google, cryptography, crosswords, wordsearches, treasure maps, and even one hellish math round. In any case I have gone from not knowing what an egg was, to becoming the team leader (and finding several eggs myself).
Today we finished Invasion II. Invasion III will start in two weeks (June 12, 2006), and I am looking for new recruits. If you are interested in playing, read the recruitment posts. Man, I posted here to recruit people for my totally awesome team, the Cerebral Assassins (a team I chose because it had a bunch of unfiction people on it). I go out to work and come home and lose two of you to the Trailblazers. Mad But I'm not bitter, really. Have fun playing guys.
