ARGFest needs your help!

This is a hard post for me to write. I hate (HATE) asking for money. However, we are in dire need of funds. I didn't consider the W at the start because I knew that it would push us to the limits of our budget. When other options fell through, I still had hope that we could pull it off. Unfortunately, our numbers, across the board, are down. Sponsorships, registrations, and hotel bookings came in significantly less than we had hoped. That leaves us a little more than $6000 short - and that's if we ditch the Stragglers Supper and the programs.

ARGFest is not a business. I am personally responsible for covering the difference. Sadly, I just do not have $6000 (spare or not). When I started looking at craigslist to see what I could get for my car, I realized it was time to reach out for help. Anything you have to help me out with this would be so very much appreciated... most definitely personally, but also from ARGFest as a whole.

For $10, you can become a member of the Order of the Trout

For $25-$500, you can become a booster (paypal link in the sidebar)

If you would like to donate more, I will set up a Patron level and give you the same recognition we give our sponsors and, if you are attending ARGFest, I'll get you on our VIP with the W (I've no idea what that would mean - an extra warm welcome?) and see about upgrading your room to a suite.

If you have any ideas on how we can raise the $6k in the next week, I would LOVE to hear them.

Even though I cannot make it (again) this year, I have sent in my support. Hope it helps.

As soon as I get my first paycheck in the last SIX weeks, I'll show my support as well. Won't be much (look forward to the day I'll be able to be a Silver Smile ), but I feel I should do something.

Donated what I could. Can we get a special announcement here on the forums? Or can we hit up a plea on some of the other ARG sites? Seems to me that at this point our best bet is to focus on the ARG community... and a bunch of smaller donations.

Or maybe one big corporate one? Anyone have some contacts with the big transmedia companies in New York/Hollywood? Since its a 'transmedia storytelling' event too? Anyone have Jeff's number @ Starlight Runner? Hehehehe...

I know how about A 4-day Kickstarter? LOL!

Seriously though, I dont want Imbri to have to foot the bill... let's look at this as an ARG....

Someone will die if we don't get $6000 in 4 days... HELP US!! Wink

Last year some funds were raised by an auction, are there any plans for that this year? I seem to recall some mention of it, but nothing official.

The boosters page is a little disappointing. I'm hoping it's just way behind on the updates.

How about some kind of a "Buy a Trailhead" fundraiser where you're guaranteed to be part of the initial mailing for a game where there is a desirable swag/collectible component. We all love our game swag and while everyone dreams of being included in a the opening salvo for a game, the unfortunate reality is that most never will be.

Also, regarding the "Order of the Trout". How about adding some other aquatic species we're familiar with, such as Flounder, Herring and Coelcanth.
Don't we ALL want to be "Red Herrings"?

 Booster Madness

Rogi's right, we need more boosters! How about if I sweeten the pot a little for Tron/Flynn Lives fans? I have a few game swag items to give away to the first few boosters in a few specific tiers who step up after this post. All giveaways are first-come, first-served, while supplies last. Offer is good through next Tuesday, July 13, 2010.

Contribute $50 to receive a Flynn's Arcade Token, a Space Paranoids Pin, and a sticker with a code to enter on your Flynn Lives account so that you can pretend you attended the SF event (8 sets available).

Contribute $100 to receive an authentic XL Flynn Lives T-Shirt, in stylish black (4 available).

Contribute $500 to receive a complete set of all three Bits, in their original packaging, plus a big, sloppy, wet kiss from Jamesi (one bit set available, kisses unlimited, should I have asked Jamesi first?).

I'm sorry to say I just can't afford to help out at all. At least before ARGfest commences.

Is there an "official" webcast of the event. Has anyone discussed the idea of maybe charging a small fee to access the webcast? Kindof like and ARG pay-per-view. I know last year there were several attendees that took pictures and video, but nothing official (or was there).

Thats okay, I'll skip the kiss.

So, you bought the bits? The FL forum should be made aware.

Erm, maybe that was confusing but I meant to encourage new donations with the giveaway so it's only good for boosting after the date of my post. Sorry, Kona!

Question, as I'm buying the Fest Pass. Why is the Twitter username a required field? Don't even have a Twitter.....

D'oh! It wasn't meant to be required (even suggested that you only include it if you didn't mind if we shared it). I fixed it.

Thank ye, very much. I'm going to be at orientation that Thursday and Friday, so I figure why not hang around, hehe.
