 		Apologies for resurrecting an old thread (also, apologies if this has been mentioned before), but I realized something while posting somewhere else.

Amy spots the Operator after turning on a camera and walking around the house. From her reactions, it seems as though she can only see him on the camera. We've had speculation that the Operator can only be seen with cameras, so this fits in nicely.

But what about Alex's "no cameras" rule? Well, if you can't turn on a video camera, you can't tell that the Operator is stalking you. What if the filming didn't summon him at all - it just made Amy aware of the thing living in their house for years?

There have been a number of instances where the Operator was seen off camera. Two that come to mind immediately are entry #2, where Alex says that he saw him while out with his dog, and entry #12, where Alex sees him while directing the MH film, and not operating the camera.
Alex also seems to be able to see the Operator in this entry, although it's possible he was able to infer that he was there from Amy's actions. In any case, we know that at least Alex can see the Operator off camera.

 		While the evidence may counter some of the particulars of this theory - on the surface anyway - I do think it deserves some delving-into. Perhaps our faceless enigma never really stops following someone once they've captured his interest, and while he occasionally shows up to the naked eye, he's unable to hide from a camera... and knows it. Or something along those lines. (And I'm very sure I'm looking into this way more than the guys making it did. Haha)

Bold added for my emphasis. This is part of the basis for one of the theories I ascribe to: Under normal conditions, the only way for the Operator to be seen (passive voice intentional) is by being captured on video. However, for some reason Alex is able to see him normally.
