Operator symbols on everything, and my fear of the dark is back.

Slenderman is heavily linked with trees, burning things, and the concept that things are fine until you start paying attention to it and only then do you go insane and/or get murderised. a lot of it is heavily influenced by House of Leaves that involves an evil Tardis house on Ash Tree lane.

Anyway I decided I want to make my own slender vlog series and to that end I came up with the phrase "You Are Sleeping".

I arranged this like so:

You
Are
Sle
Epi
Ng

From which I got the acronym Yasen. since this is a neat word and kinda sounds right for it I decided this would be mistaken for a name, then changed it so it would actually be a character name.

Out of curisoity I googled it and found it's a real name.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

It means Ash Tree.

Cool coincidence, but you're over-thinking it.

That *is* a cool coincidence though. Razz

I just realized I can't remember the last time I didn't mention/think about Slendy...for months...not sure how I feel 'bout that.

There's this tripod in the corner of my room, and a lot of nights I always think that it's the Operator.
There's also a replica of Tim's mask in my room, and that doesn't help either. I should just sleep on the couch.

Haven't posted in this section before, but I was talking about this with some friends and someone linked this thread, so I wanted to share my first experiences with Slenderman.

When I first discovered Slenderman, I was living in this house:

So I'd be sitting on the couch in the middle of the night watching Marble Hornets. Then I'd look up, and that window would be there, looking out onto my pitch-black back yard, and I'd just know he was out there watching me. And that house wasn't terribly secure. We had four doors to the outside, and we sometimes would forget we hadn't locked all four. Plus, two of our windows were broken, so it's not like locking the doors meant no one could get in. Both broken windows, by the way, were in my bedroom, which had a continuation of the window wall in this picture.

I slept with the lights on for a week, and haven't stopped watching Slenderman series since.

For the first, oh, six months of discovering Slender Man and Marble Hornets, I was literally too terrified to walk out into the woods, even with other people. I was freaking seeing him everywhere. Even now, when I walk into a wooded area I feel slightly paranoid.

Oh, and it doesn't help that I've always had a fear of turning around to find someone looking in the window at me. And having curtains that don't fit my window all the way....Yeah, paranoia ahoy.

I had nightmares at first about the tentacled spidery pictures, and then, after seeing entry 14, I freaked out one night when I was almost asleep and my husband walked in the bedroom door. I was apparently having a nightmare about that entry. I refuse to have the door open at night now.

I'm over the worst part of it, but every now and then, if I take a break from watching the vlogs or reading the blogs, I'll get fairly paranoid all over again when I go back to it.

...I sound like an addict. Probably am. Lol.

On a happier note, Marble Hornets has gotten my brother and me to communicate more often, at first to talk about the series then just to talk. We're not estranged, just too lazy to call each other. Terror and eldritch abominations bring us together. XD

Sometimes I find myself thinking I have a camera and I'm filming things when I look out windows into the dark.

Is it weird that I want to get a camera and start filming myself like I'm paranoid, but not really paranoid?

That's honestly very refreshing to hear. I'm glad the other vlogs and blogs are getting attention out there Smile

I just found out that after showing him MH my wife's friend has stopped leaving his handgun in his room and now puts it in his car when he goes anywhere.

I first found out about Slenderman from a copypasta site. I then went to the original S/A paranormal thread and read the whole thing through in a couple of days. I don't remember being that paranoid at any other time in my life. Marble Hornets has never scared me as much as those stories and pictures on that original thread.

@ Ithilwen22 That's an amazing story. Something similar happened to me. My sister and I used to be pretty close, but I went off to college and then got married and moved away. Then she got married and moved halfway across the country. I'm not the best person at keeping up with people, and until she posted on her blog about the slenderman vlogs, I hadn't really talked to her in a while. I guess Slendy's arms are long enough to bring together eclectic and eccentric people from all over the place.

Slender Man isn't evil at all! He just wants us all to become one big happy family. Next he'll start handing out Cokes. XD

I can only imagine the crippling paranoia Jay must go through. Sometimes in the middle of the night I go into the kitchen of my apartment and I freak out that slendy has somehow gotten in and is hiding in the living room. Jay must feel that paralysis everywhere he goes. It makes the character a lot more deep.
