I tried jasonSPLATbritain.com. "Jason" being the name Vanessa keeps using for her father. It bounced back.

Been talking to Claire a bit.

Hes the guy who ran (supposedly) from the battle of marathon to athens to tell of the victory - and the marathon race is named after him. But no response.

Hey, I'm new to all of this (forum, game and ARG in general) but was wondering if maybe she means Shakespeare's first sonnet?

I'm having a Facebook conversation with Claire right now. She's pretty chatty...I'm trying to play it like we're just friends connecting, & approaching inquiries about the events of the last game only obliquely (since she kinda doesn't want to talk about it). One thing is clear, though: she still cares about V, but is confused & sometimes scared & has to process those events fully yet. Her mum has suggested counseling.

Sorry what seems like a stream of consciousness but was thinking back to the queen connection. There were 2 queen elizabeth's and shakespeare was under the first elizabeth's reign. Maybe she's the first?

I had some issues with Safari and Facebook partway through the chat, but when I got reconnected via Firefox most of the chat Claire and I had had popped right back up. I think the beginning must just be missing because it was a LONG chat (almost an hour!) and there were lots of lines...maybe there's a limit to how many get displayed.

Anyway, all the important bits from the chat happened after we had friendly "hey, we're just two girls having a friendly chat" type of banter. Talking to her felt pretty realistic, though obviously once the directly-ARG-related stuff started coming out it felt more like playing the game, because, well, most of our friends don't talk about auditory and olfactory (smell) hallucinations, but if they did experience those things then I'm sure the conversation would sound more or less like the one we had.

Here's the chat...sorry for the length, but I think the important stuff isn't necessarily just all in one place. Like I said, friendly banter was how it started; don't remember exactly how V came up, but I remember responding to her with some comment like, "Yeah, I noticed you and V have parted ways. Guess that's understandable." And I changed the subject, leaving Claire the option of either responding more about V or avoiding the subject.

Just so we can be clear the definition of herald:

We have a massive clue to the Herald's first, but one that opens a whole new can of worms. A websearch for Carina, Jason and Atlanta gives a (non functioning - at least for me) link to a website about Constelation Carina, which links to the story of the Argonauts. Both Jason and Atlanta were crew members. Vanessa says names are chosen from a list - could it be the crew list of the Argo? And if so, who counts as Herald?

Also, with regards to the heraldic shield, the image is adapted from one already existing - but more importantly the owl image links directly to Athena. (and it's Latin name is bubo bubo). Athens was one of the original destinations of the Marathon. Don't see how any of this helps yet, but it may later.
