Sleep, in this case, is death. The boat, the waters, represent the leaving of the mortal world. The woman in the Poe illustration is not unlike V. From certain comments made to our A, I have a feeling that he's been given the chance to make "the ultimate sacrifice", or to help someone else make it (maybe without them realising). I get the impression he's maybe having some second thoughts about the course he's been given - and the course that Poeas is trying to create.

We may not be able to steer, but perhaps we can guide...

Maybe the Twinkle Twinkle has something to do with the other verses of Twinkle Twinkle little star...can anyone make something of these?

Just thinking out loud: Lots of star references - twinkle twinkle, plus the Carina, Puppis and Vela are the three parts that make up the pseudo-constellation Argo. They represent the sail, the steer, and the mast - which the poem mentions.


The last stanza obviously refers to the Fates, who spin the thread of life, weave the tapestry of life, and cut the thread at death. It seems to be saying that someone is fated to die.

This stanza seems to be important, but I have no idea what it refers to:

MOA's emblem is a green/red herald badge. This a.m. sent Ancaeus a coded NING msg: Seen Moirai (the three Fates) Email?.

I think the Twinkle poem Claire may need is the Lewis Carroll version from Wonderland - Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat... I think it's been referenced previously.

So.

Here's OUR dilema. Do we allow the ministry's plan go ahead, and let history run as per "this reality"?
Do we risk halting the events and facing an uncertain "new reality". The ministry would have us believe that Dyson living would lead to time travel and Germany obtaining nukes in WWII, thus causing countless deaths. This said, it's a bit rich of the ministry to object to "time manipulation"...

There's no guarantee the second series of events WILL happen without temporal intervention. History records Dyson as having died on that boat - that may still occur even if the project fails. It's a big unknown. A risk involving countless lives.

If Vlad awakes, he will do his best to destroy the machine. The ministry seem to think V is irrelevant to the process, although I suspect this may be obfuscation. They have a stated objective and interest, and as such are unreliable witnesses. I suspect, in the long run, the only way to get the ministry to leave V alone is to destroy the machine, but this could alter time and stop V's existance anyway.

We're being offered a chance to save a life, but potentially at the cost of many others - creating a brave new world that could be a living hell. Or, we could sanction a death, letting events run as they have up to this day - with all the good and bad that entails.

Which is the better devil? The one you know, or the one you don't?

Agreed on the "maybe the Ministry has their own reasons for killing Tiphys" thing...but at the same time, why does Vladimir seemingly NOT want Tiphys to die? Has he also been fooled into thinking not killing Tiphys = the end of the Ministry, and that is what he wants? Have we been tricked into thinking of Vladimir as the bad guy, and should let him have what he wants? Brain hurts .
