I recieved my copy of the DVD today. Haven't watched it yet but it has a red "8" on the front of the sleeve and "74 68 6f 73 65" in blue on the back. So far this gives us:

1 = ?
2 = is
3 = ?
4 = ?
5 = ?

7 = ?
8 = those
9 = who

It's not much but hopefully more will chip in.

Can't wait to watch it tonight.

My dvd arrived today. I felt the viewing deserved only the finest. I went to the grocery store and got a bbq pork quesadilla and a bottle of champagne. (oh and some seaweed salad from the sushi area because I needed an uber strength green veggie) I popped the dvd in and went to town.

The music is great. The production is great. J did an awesome job with this. I expected a tiny little interview; I got way more than that. What I got was honesty and a look into the life of someone who created something that meant a lot to many people.

The dvd is lengthy in the right way. Just when you think it is going to end, there is another segment, riddled with insight into ARGs as well as SilverLadder specifically. Some things I already knew, many I did not. I saw myself in many aspects of the interview, as well as seeing glimpses of people I have come to love, or tolerate, or something.

I am especially pleased with the first portion of the interview, the part before the extended interview and the bonus material. I now have something to direct people to when asked, "What is an ARG". This is a good thing.

If you haven't already ordered yours, please do so now. You will be kicking yourself if you don't. Also, if you don't order yours, we will never figure out what the numbers on the case mean. Mine is upstairs, but I will post them when I go back inside. There is a tornado coming, or something, so that should be soon.

ETA: I got the DVD today.

It was really interesting to see the description of an ARG through the perspective of a puppetmaster. When he was describing the stress he endured and the physical illness, I felt really bad. I've always tried to keep in mind all the work involved in puppeteering and try not to cause more stress than necessary but I think I'll be even more aware now.

I didn't quite catch everything in the last scene; the one where Shane was adjusting his shirt a lot. What was the question Jessica asked?

Not to be controversial or anything, but shouldn't this thread really be moved to "Press and Other Analysis". It really isn't an ARG, more of a discussion on games.

Um...there is an encoded message on the DVD's being sent out. Even if it's a "hello world" I think it merits discussion here until we find out otherwise.

So if the DVD was just a documentary about ARG's you'd be absolutely correct. The message changes everything.

Can't wait to see what this spells out when/if everybody reports back. I don't expect anything huge at all but it's still nice to see this kind of effort put into the packaging of the dvd.

Looks like I was friended by Uno Hallucinine on FB after ordering the DVD. I didn't get to play the ARG. I'm wondering if it was just a nod and a "Hello, thanks for your support" or if Shane is cooking something else up?
