new letters will arrive now, trying to translate them as soon as possible

#14/66

Quote:

Dear Ella,

yes, yes, I know we can not change it, if he is just not
there. Anyway... I could go up the walls.
Patience was never my strong point and currently it is
least of all.
By the way I have seen your pictures of Tschechowa's funeral.
Mr. Hofer has brought us a magazine.
I admire your work, you know. But I can't share your
sympathy for this woman. She was never anything else
as an opportunist. You know what my parents endured until 1933
and before - Jews never were welcome. How much my
Mother hated this hypocrisy! It seems as she met Tschechowa
one time, I do not know if it was an auction or an exhibition, perhaps elsewhere.
I think they haven't talk anythingmuch more than "Mrs. Mannheimer,
I'm glad to meet you! "and my mother answered:
"I am not", she turned around and left.
You know what, on days like today I miss my work
even more than usual. I hope Jeremy can cope with the situation.
He has a knack for customers and a sense
for new artists. He will do the right thing. What a pity that
my dear husband has no interest in these things.
Oh, I will not detain you longer with my self pitying
stories. I probably write only to curb my impatience,
but of course it does not help at all.

See you soon
C.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Tschechowa might be http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0874781/[/url], fitting year of death.. and C.'s handwriting is changing.. looking in our lil graphology book it says "insincerely"

Dear Ella,

just leave the book at home, I certainly can't
read anything about a disabled child.
I'm so sensitive I couldn't even read "Murder on the Orient Express" last time. As I reached the part about
the abducted child, I threw the book aside.
It is not easy.
Sally was here this weekend , I gave her a list for you, did you get it already? And what about your Bartholomay, isn't he back? When do go
you to the hospital to meet him?
I do not know how long I can stand still. At the moment
I'm having a bad time.
I hope you will answer soon with some news.

C.

Quote:

Ella,
thanks for your efforts.
I thought a lot since your last letter and I came to the conclusion,
to become active, cost what it may.
what it may.
I've already abandoned setting my hope on the police,
this Commissioner Kohler is
far too young and inexperienced for this case - he imputed me with me being a bit batty, right after our first conversation!
However, I'll leave no stone unturned.
I was concerned about everything a lot and from now on I'll
break new soil to find my daughter.
Even at the risk everyone thinks I finally become mad.
I myself never believed that one day I had to
go thus far. But things are changing, and I fear
there is no turning back.
You certainly understand that.
See you soon,
C.

i said i told you so
new conversation with Kyle

this has become a standard response for contacting Kyle.

Here's what happened, I drove about 30 miles to a campground so I could take photos, it was a 3 day trip. One of the days(when I took that pic on my blog), I guess I had a memory lapse, and all my pictures were distorted, the next two days were so foggy I couldn't get any good pics. When I got back from my trip(today), I made the blog as an online journal, and got yelled at by my psycho neighbor, she drew some trees on my driveway.About an hour before I got home she found her cat impaled on a tree branch. Thats all I know.

can he explain more?

They now have "official" transcriptions/translations on the official game site.

Go here: http://66letters.net/ch1/ click on one of the letters, then click "en" next to "Transkript"

Read the letters in my post above, and keep checking back as new one's get posted, 15 just got posted by the way, though there is no english transcription yet. The only other thing that's really of note is the cassette that was sent out. You can find info about that on the wiki. Or in the previous couple pages of this thread.

I really believe, as soon as I translated #15 and #16, they'll upload their translations ..(like all the other times before.. *cough*)

Lairo, do you have any idea what we're supposed to be doing at this point? I just got the newsletter but I still don't get it. Using our detective skills to solve a cold case? How do you do that? This is unlike any other ARG I've played.

gnah, so another try:

here's a short recap for those, who are still interested in 66letters:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
at the moment we received 25 letters (and the tape), most of them are written by C(arla) and Ella, but some of them are from Frederik (Carla's husband) and a guy called F. Hopfe ( a detective).
Carla believes, that her baby(Felicitas) was replaced by another (assumingly) sick baby (Fliss) during a stay in hospital. We don't know yet, who was the one who needed this stay, whether Felicitas or Carla. The nurse, who brought Carla the wrong child, was Monika Schmidt, the doctor in charge was Dr. Bartholomay. During her hospital stay, Carla met Ella.
Immediately after Carla saw, that this wasn't her child (just a few seconds after Monika entered the room), she went nuts - nobody wanted to believe her! That's why she ended up in a psychiatric ward. She decided to get in contact with Ella, remembering her as someone she could trust. Ella received a list with names and facts she should recheck for Carla, so Carla could proof, that she is right. But, well well.. Frederik (you remember, Carla's husband) and Ella had a lil crush on eachother, and so Frederik persuaded Ella to not tell Carla about the things she found out about. Soon Carla decided to take matter's in her own hand, and she hired a detective. But here we go again, Frederik blocked her account, and so she wasn't able to pay F. Hopfe anymore.
But we received a letter with Mr. Hopfe's telephone number and called him, he told us about Monika Schmidt (now Fertsch) and that she's pretty active in her church. we found her on this picture: http://kg-aegidius.de/konfirmation.html (the lady hiding behind all others hehe). we called the church and asked, if they knew something about her, and they told us, that we can meet her every saturday at 3 pm at the cemetry (Monika's husband is buried there). Soooo, today some of us will meet her.

Kajarinin posted a recap of their meeting with Monika Fertsch on the Patmo forum. Nice job! The google translation is a bit rough, though. If someone could provide a better one, I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

of course *smile*
well, as I mentioned before, they've met Monika Schmidt.
That's what she told us:
Quote:

- Monika is still remembering Carla and her story
- She'll never forget, it's haunting her every day of her life
- Carla was in the hospital because of shingles
- this disease is contagious, that's why felicitas was with her mum (paediatric ward) = (Monika was the nurse there)
- Ella was in the hospital because of her heavy neurodermatitis
- Regarding the baby's "swap": Monika brought Carla the child (it was the day of release)
- One day before Monika recognized that the girl was kinda different, a lot quieter than small Felicitas
- She told us that the kids had name ribbons, on which the name is usually written in blockletters
- But the baby's small ribbon now had a name written in handwriting , she couldn't identify this writing
(it's not Ella's writing)
- Regarding the letter from Frederik to Ella she said that she would think that this letter was written by a woman
- Nobody wanted to believe Monika, not even Dr. Bartholomay
- After this event she was bullied by the clinic's staff until she quit her job
- Dr. Bartholomay was probably concerned about is reputation
- in addition she told us she found the original bracelet on her last day of work and has taken it (we gave her our address - she has offered to look for the ribbon and send it to us!)
- She has never seen Sally or Frederik - Frederik went on tour across America during Carla's stay in hospital
-One day, Monika met Ella and told her that she believes in what Carla's saying about the babys, but then she ran away into the S-Bahn, she was a nervous wreck
- Nurses on duty at the day before the handover were nurse "Ursula May" and teaching nurse Karin (Monika couldn't remember her last name)
- no news regarding Fliss' disease
- next week Monika is going into hospital, so she is out of order *laughs*

Hi.. is anybody still following this? *really hope so*
Today I received an E-Mail from Frederik.
he's the one who wrote an article about Lucy Keller and Lydia Holdsworth.
Link
Lydia once lived in Berlin, next to Carla, and her daughter Lucy was at the same age as Felicitas.
Soon after Carla got the wrong baby, Lydia went back to the United States.
here's the mail

Quote:
Hi J. G.,

Thanks for getting in touch, it's been a while since the event. In regards to your inquiry - I thought that I got Lucy's card that night but I can't find her business card nor number anymore. Though I saved her mother Lydia's number because she was interested in our prior company's service and we exchanged numbers. I still have it in my phone, it's Lydia Holdsworth at +1-323-283-3433 but I don't have her email address.

Maybe you just give Lydia a call and explain what you need and that you would like to get in touch with Lucy in regards to event management. And please say 'Hi' to Lydia from me.

Good luck and cheers,

Frederik

I think, we need someone of you now.
If you could give it a try and call Lydia, and ask her about her connection to Carla, and why she never answered her, and maybe if she knows anything about this tragic event with Carla and her baby, it would be awesome.

ps: my English is awful today gnah

Hi

You find attached the articel about Carla.

I'm really confused about your unexpected call and this old unpleasent story.

Carla and me were never real friends ( I knew she didn't like me). We lived just in the same neighbourhood in West Berlin
and we just met sometimes on the street or at parties.

Even if I wanna help you, I would really prefer that you don't contact me or my daughter any further.
I don't want that Lucy knows about this old stupid affair.

You have to understand, this was never a habit of mine. I met my first husband Steve Keller in Hongkong at a party
when I was 19. My father was the Swiss ambassador in Hongkong and Steve worked for the diplomatic corps of the USA.
I came straight from a Swiss girls boarding school and I married the first man (Steve) I fell in love.
Steve got the ambassadorship in Germany and we moved to Berlin. I felt really lonely there and so this stupid thing happened.
As Carla threatened me to tell the affair my husband, if I would not give her baby back I was shocked and scared. I have no idea how she knew about this man.
But Lucy is my daughter and I told Carla blackmailing me would be useless and would not bring her child back.

I got divorced 1985. We are still good friends and would like to keep it this way.
I am very happy with second husband and my family here in California
so pleace respect my request. Since my parents are dead I am rarely in Europe and I don't know anything about Carla or Felicitas.

I not sure what really happended, but I feel really sorry Carla and I wish her all the best.

Good luck with you search

Lydia
