So, I was very interested to find that there is supposedly a government facility equal to Area 51 called Hanger 18 on the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Allegedly, it was one of the places that housed wreckage from the 1947 Roswell crash for study.

Check out some of the information here:

And of course some more interesting reads that should be taken with a grain of salt, seeing how many nutters there are in the world. Laughing

Yeah that pretty much follows with my current line of SPEC. With all this "Transport to a secure area in Ohio" "D. Morris" and "STALOG" business, I think we can expect this experience to revolve (at least partially) around "what happened" to the freight train carrying the Area 51 material.

Oh and to clarify an earlier post, STALOG stands for Study of Automation of the Logistic System. Automation as in data processing and logisitcs as in the movement of freight. I assume AF to mean Air Force.

I'm also fairly convinced that D. Morris refers to USAF Sergeant Major Dan Morris. I ran across one of his tesitmonies and...wow.

ETA: Project Blue Book took place in the 50s (after the roswell crash). Not saying that this doesn't somehow involve PBB but I kind of think this is "something else".

That would match the quote I snipped earlier from Dan Morris's testimony...
http://www.galactic-server.com/rune/greer6.html

"They went to Wright-Pat Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, where we usually send most of what we recover. There are about eight levels under the ground, and we store it there."

Some interesting links there! Time for more digging! Very Happy

I've been looking into some background of where in Ohio that train may have been going. Any suggestions on how to get the DL to start? (Using Mac OS Snow Leopard btw)

Some people have reported that on certain machines with certain browsers, using the letter "Y" doesn't work, they have to type the number "1" instead.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't think about that LOL after taking all those scripting classes and dealing with booleans

But Yay, it works! Thanks a bunch, it works now, for anyone using Snow Leapord on a Mac w/ Safari probably will need to do this (or not sure maybe I just have some wired setting)

My god, people STILL think the guy in the Cloverfield teaser said "lion" when it was really "alive"? Riddle me THIS, then: DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A FREAKING LION TO YOU?!

Looking at the pic I posted.. it kinda looks like 2 ETs (one standing on the other's shoulder) wearing a longcoat (to look human?). the top one is looking to the camera while the figure is facing to our left.

On a more serious note:

A quick review of what we 'know'*
Trailer:
---------
Materials being moved from Area 51 to Hanger 18 in Ohio were compromised when the train was (seemingly) deliberately derailed.**
Something strong escaped, the event was filmed.
More in depth info will likely need to wait for HD trailer.

ScariestthingIeversaw.com
----------
We appear to be remotely accessing an Air Force computer system(STALOG) to access a larg-ish set of files.
This computer seems to have been Dan Morris' (Master Sergeant Dan Morris, USAF (Retired))', a figure involved with Area 51.

(testimony here: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/disclosure/briefing/disclosure12.htm )

*'know' being subjective as it's all informed speculation based on available evidence.

If you still think that looks even remotely like a lion, then I'd advise you go back to school.

Anyway, I think that paring Steven Spielberg with J.J. Abrams for this movie is just as awesome of a pairing as Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson with The Hobbit. I can barely think of anything that might screw this up...unless Speilberg goes back into War of the Worlds/Minority Report territory *shudder*.[/img]

I've currently got the site bookmarked. Here's hoping this leads to the HD version of the teaser going online! Very Happy

It's not really personal preference. It's about uF's formatting. Large pictures stretch the window for all posts and make it difficult to read actual discussions. Not to mention that the attachment feature shows small thumbnails that make it easier for people with slow bandwidths to view the site. A simple click on an attachment will show the picture as full size in a separate tab.

To those new to the forums, you can attach files by looking to the left of the "Post a reply" page and click "Add an Attachment". Browse for the file you'd like to attach and add a caption if necessary then click the "Add Attachment" button. This doesn't actually post the message yet, merely adds the file to the queue to be posted when you're ready. Once you've clicked "Add Attachment" the page will show what attachments you've already added and allow you to repeat the process if you want to attach more than one file. You can return to typing your message by clicking "Message Body" also on the left.

And another very useful feature that new members often miss is the "Edit" button on all of your own posts. It's located at the bottom right and is great for correcting mistakes or adding new information you just thought of.

Hope that helps everyone out! Very Happy

With the ET coming out of the train in the camera lens.. and the yellow truck, Abrams admission the movie is 'an homage to spielberg's movies redone in a more personal way' maybe this movie's going to be a retelling of one (or more) of his films. Say, ET/CEo3K as a more suspense/horror genre...

From the trailer:

No, just no.....
