Hi everyone, new & old Smile

I moved this thread to its own, separate forum in the Chaotic Fiction section, as, going by previous projects of the Master of Mystery JJ Abrams, Super 8 will probably spawn a LOT of speculation.

You have your own forum to use now, so feel free to create new threads on relevant subjects. Do take a moment to read the forum guidelines at the top of the forum though, and remember to Search before posting, to make sure you're not posting anything that's already there.

Thank you!

I'm in. I haven't been here since Cloverfield but this looks awesome! I've read through this thread over the last 2 days and I have to say good work so far! I'm excited.

Really?!? What on Earth gave you that idea? You have some insider information you're not sharing? Wink

Thanks!

Wait a second...what if the date we're looking for isn't from when the countdown started in OUR time but from when it started on Feb 5, 1977??? What day would that end up being? Any historical relevance?

Possible Historical Link
Links

Not sure if this will help but I was researching a possible historical link to the train accident in the trailer. Based on the year 1979, Nevada to Ohio, and Freight. I was able to locate this.

RAILROAD ACCIDENT REPORT--DERAILMENT OF UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD FREIGHT TRAIN, GRANITE, WYOMING, JULY 31, 1979

This seems alittle far north until you look at a map of US Railways and r

Sorry, it cut off for some reason and can't edit:

...realize that short of heading north then almost the same distance south into Colorado, continuing north into Wyoming then directly east would be the shortest route. Hope this turns out to be of relevance.

Last post, I swear.
Steven Spielberg tie-in. From the Close Encounters of the Third Kind wiki: "When a despairing Roy inadvertently sees a television news program about a train wreck near Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming, he realizes the mental image plaguing him is real." Very Happy

Peebles, Ohio, possible setting

According to various websites, Peebles, Ohio is home to The GE Peebles facility, which is described as "Ohio's Area 51." Im not sure if this ARG will be inspired by real places and events, but anything is possible at this point.
