HAL stands for halliburton on the NYSE...and it is a company regardless...

That's an edited pic, the numbers are a blow up of the beam on the right.

I know that JJ Abrams has mentioned that this movie is NOT related to cloverfield

But I cant help but notice all the "8's"

Cloverfield: Released 1-18-08, Viral Website 1-18-08.com, for fun I downloaded the SWF file for Cloverfield which was titled "photos_8.swf"

Super8: title obviously "8", the title of the looped SWF File on the main site is s8.swf...

I don't have any theories built around this other then the observation that there are a lot of "8's" in both movies...

Maybe just a lucky number for Abrams? /shrug

 		Yes you are full right: "8" is lucky number by JJ Abrams, he always try to use it like his "Slusho".

But I think, it is really not connected to Cloverfield, since he would make his own world with Cloverfield, without any - even financial - help of Spielberg. Sure, perhaps he will build in Super 8 some tie ins from Cloverfield, like he built in Cloverfield and in Mission Impossible III that Dharma Initiative sign etc. But he is just marking his works like with watermark - also with his numbers.

After all, he is building in his works - whatever it is - his own world, like we even seen in Star Trek the existance of "Tagruato", but these were just allusions, but not the main theme. And I hope, he is planing to make one day another Cloverfield movie with Cloverfield monster as main theme - just not this time.

Rasgold used to post on the imdb forums for cloverfield with a whole lot of disinformation, does anyone else remember that? I haunted those boards before discovering unfiction, and was tricked like everyone else into thinking he knew something incredible when he didn't, created gamejacking websites, etc.

I think we can all acknowledge that he's probably the one behind 500 rads, right? He's the only person who keeps showing up and desperately trying to defend its relevancy.

EDIT: Sorry, I realize now that there's a thread specifically about this issue. Super 8 has its own little niche already? Ballin'!
