*golfclap* for the most polite trouting ever, when most of us are so sick of the repeated trouts that we don't even take the time to do it anymore.

Search function, people!

I like how on the same page melodyman responds about being kindler and gentler and then trouts someone. Very Happy Anywho...

Just a bump for the guy pointing out the Night Skies/Watch the Skies idea. I'm still not entirely convinced this isn't related to Cloverfield... Would be mindbending if they converged, though unlikely... I mean... (proly fishing for a trout here) Was there ever any background into Cloverfield's monster? There was the satellite/thing crashing into the water at the end, and it starting to attack NY. Course...that doesn't fit with the Night Skies idea of multiple baddies and one goodie (ET/Gremlins)... Ah well, I wouldn't put it past JJ to make an entire movie seemingly different then WHAM tie it to Cloverfield. Course I was half expecting Jack to find a Rambaldi device at the bottom of the cave/waterfall/drain plug of the island on Lost. >.< I woulda Lol'd.

Bring on the inevitable fish!

JJ himself has already said that Super 8 has absolutely nothing to do with Cloverfield. Is that the answer you're looking for?

If you mean that they might be part of the same "universe," I think that's probably right... we've already seen Slusho! in everything from Cloverfield to Star Trek to Heroes... but the stories don't relate at all.

Additionally, Super 8 is set in 1979 supposedly... it would be tough for Lionel (or whatever we named the Super 8 creature) to come out of a satellite that landed in 2008 and then be in a boxcar in 1979.

Clover S8 tie-in

Yep;

Since filming hasn't even begun yet, we don't know whether 1979 will be part of a back story to S8, or just what, and from what I recall Clover was merely "woke" up by the satellite, and had actually been around since pre-history?

Anyway, there's a page that discusses whether S8 is Clover-related.

You think this is Cloverfield 2? READ THIS FIRST!

^ I don't think we ever got compelling enough evidence to determine how Clover was created/waked up/etc. Did we?

And for the record, there are a few articles that say that the movie will be "set in" 1979. So, take that for what it's worth.

Trouting isn't "mean", as if it's the opposite of kinder and gentler somehow. All depends how it's done, but that's true of every post.

I thought I was rather nice about the way I fishslapped him.
As far as this post goes, JJ will have to deal you the fish since it was he that said S8 has absolutely nothing to do with CF.. No direct post to quote..

@filmedge: I was referring to the fact that he didn't trout b/c he was being "kindler and gentler melodyman" Smile
Ya, I'd read that before, and I don't think JJ is the type to say "well I said the trailer has nothing to do with Cloverfield..." Guess I'm just wishing for some pre-story stuff...like Cloverfield is a bioengineered weapon developed by the race of aliens in the train car...that sorta thing...I am just a bit bummed by the idea of a alien horror flick. Not sure exactly why, I just am. I think I just really REALLY want a crossover of some type...like Indy being on the train (cameo would be possible) from A51 or something along those lines. One thing I am certain of...it's time for the next clue!! >.<
