Just a bump for the guy pointing out the Night Skies/Watch the Skies idea. I'm still not entirely convinced this isn't related to Cloverfield... Would be mindbending if they converged, though unlikely... I mean... (proly fishing for a trout here) Was there ever any background into Cloverfield's monster? There was the satellite/thing crashing into the water at the end, and it starting to attack NY. Course...that doesn't fit with the Night Skies idea of multiple baddies and one goodie (ET/Gremlins)... Ah well, I wouldn't put it past JJ to make an entire movie seemingly different then WHAM tie it to Cloverfield. Course I was half expecting Jack to find a Rambaldi device at the bottom of the cave/waterfall/drain plug of the island on Lost. >.< I woulda Lol'd.

Bring on the inevitable fish!

Even though JJ says it has nothing to do with Cloverfield, some things just seem to point to it. It just seems odd to me that we are getting clues to do with space (Rocket Poppeteers, also the satellite from Cloverfield) and water (Hook, Line, and Minker; also the cloverfield monster being awaken by water.) Especially Jack Minker's fascination with water monsters.

I know it is not Cloverfield 2 but it just seems fishy to me.

By the same logic, it could be M. Knight Shamalamadingdong's "Signs 2." Space and Water are broad concepts and used often as metaphors. It is very likely that JJ (Star Trek) and Spielberg (Jaws/ CE3K)) are just alien obsessed sci-fi nerds that play with ocean themes.

So you can Fly the Rocket SSF1 now at the SP Site. So far no leads or secret stuff found. Anyone know how to work SWF magic and find secrets?

Game pieces all in place
Ready to begin the game

Now that we have come to a blazing halt in things I believe that its just because all the game pieces have been deployed and are awaiting the green flag to drop. All we have gotten so far are the set-ups for the game to come.. no real workable leads, just the establishment of the initial players and their corresponding sites we will use on our journey over the next 9 months until release.. Whenever the PM's and the powers that be give the green light (a la Poppeteers many references to "are you ready to begin?") we will know the game has begun.
Honestly, I think we picked up on this game so early on that we have been watching them load the playing field or setting the table as it were for the game to come.
Make sense?

agree with melodyman.
I bet the game designers are getting a kick out of all the speculation on the site of random noise and names.
Although it sucks waiting for things to kick off.

No, we picked up the game at the right time. Many activities in this ARG are quite time-limited. The Craigslist listings, the memorial fund voice message, the letters. They are simply biding their time. Wise.

DEVICE?

The only thing I can think of to continue with at the moment is the DEVICE? Option, but I heard thats just a dead end.

Since the movie doesn't start filming until next month, the game can't be running at speed this early. It wouldn't last until next summer.

I fully expect this current lull and wouldn't anticipate great leaps ahead in the near future. The game will need to BUILD over the next year, not start at the top and fizzle out by next spring.

Hang in there, players! Good ARG times ahead.

at least we're in fairly early on this one. It always make sense for ARGs to have some down time for the word of mouth to spread, and people to get interested. I'm sure there's a mystical sweet spot between waiting just right, and waiting too long.

The pattern here is the same as with Cloverfield, there was a teaser trailer and no film footage shot at all when the teaser debuted, and the game started, then the filming followed. There was a rather bad lull in that one though, well into things. Hopefully that's not what happens here, and I think they are trying to avoid that later lull by not getting rolling quite so fast.
