Secret Forum Board Members

Ok from the recent find of arcadeaid.com we now know that ZackAttack is a board member of the Flynn Lives forum. So what about the other members? Should we be on the look out for them?

This of note for ZackAttack.

- He is present in three of the thread on the FlynnLives board.
- He has stated that he is planing something to bring others together.
- He has stated that he has made plans for the date when Kevin Flynn disappeared.

I think that we need to uncover the exact date of the disappearance for the date of ZackAttacks next move.

ETA: He was also the one to post the find of the Light Cycle diagrams.

The 'date' of that post was July 12, 2009, and was talking about the (then) upcoming 20th anniversary of Flynn's disappearance. Since we know from the Encom site that Flynn 'abandoned' the company on July 26, 1989 (and that said date is consistent with the 'countup' in the trailer and other pieces of information), the 20-year anniversary should have been in late July 2009. The event in question, I believe, was thus Flynn's Arcade at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Given that this 'Zack' person works at an arcade restoration retailer, that would make him an ideal candidate to collect several vintage machines (Galaga, Ms Pacman, Tron, Space Paranoids, etc) to bring to San Diego for the event.

Well, we do have one lead: the timer in the preview. If we can figure out whether the date Sam shows up is:

- The release date of the preview in theatres
- The release date of the movie
- The first showing of the previews for the ZeroHour reward

We could work backwards and see when that is, yes? I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd get on the calculatin'.

Hey folks, emerald's post made me think about something. I know for a fact that Funspot/ACAM in Laconia, NH (featured in the King of Kong movie) is planning to have a booth with about 40 classic coin-ops at the PAXEast event here in Boston at the end of this month. I know the person in charge of that area from Funspot. In fact several of our local arcade collectors' group here in New England are volunteering at this area during PAXEast. I will make some calls and if I can pick out any TRON/Flynn Lives related progamming that is going to be a part of that. Gary from Funspot mentioned a "suprise announcment that will affect you all" on our local message board last week. Seems VERY promising.

Actually, it might be good to start coallating information on the various board members, since knowing their usernames could be useful down the line. A couple of the key players who seem to actually have a clue (or perhaps inside information):

RecycleOrDie
Has gone by the name Hippie McGee?
Once owned stock in Encom, but sold it on principle
Provided the Encom 1990 Stock Prospectus
Strong supporter of Alan Bradley

ZackAttack
Set up scripts to search for evidence of Flynn; found Lightcycle schematics
Planned & organized Flynn's Arcade at SDCC '09
Provided ArcadeAid links
Presumably the same Zack who works at ArcadeAid
Presumably has access to valid ENCOM identification codes

Im gonna try not to rant, but I really hate how big of a deal SDCC has become. I went in 05 and 06, and 07, i had another trip planned, and during 08 and 09, tickets sold out really fast, and I was really mad for this year, cause I was not aware they had already sold tickets for this year, LAST YEAR.

I really wish I could go this year. Hopefully 42 will hint at a date so I can try to drive up there on said date, and maybe even get a 1 day badge.

There's the Anaheim Comic Con in mid April that I was just looking through. As of right now there's nothing Tron related going on there (guests, panels etc....) Will keep my eye on that one since it is pretty close to where I am.

You can always try to sign up as a volunteer. About 2-3 hours of work gets you a badge for the rest of the day (and work consists of sitting near the door of a panel room, helping people find seats and such). Volunteer for 4 days, and you get the Volunteer T-Shirt, too. Some people even manage to get in on the 'setup' volunteer shifts (helping set up the booth dividers and such, placing signage around the con), and can fulfill the hour requirement for a 4-day volunteer... BEFORE THE CON EVEN OPENS.

I've never gone the Volunteer route before, but it seems like a pretty good deal, if you're willing to do that. I'd check the website soon, though; even volunteer space closes up fast, these days. (as it stands, Friday and Saturday one-day passes are sold out, and Thursday is very close to being unavailable too)

EDIT: Scratch that. Volunteer signup is closed, apparently... http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_vol.shtml

i wonder if the toronto comic con will have anything. we DID have the light cycle there last summer. tho i find it unlikly we would get anything as cool as a flynns arcade.

but i digress. what kinds of searches on the names from the secret forum names have people done? would just normal google searches turn up much you think?

edit**

okay i dunno if anybody else has seen this, but if you type in zackattack in google you get this site as the first entry

http://www.zachattack.net/games.htm

then if you go thru the list of games, there is a game listing for tron that doesnt work.

is this old news?

That site was created in 2002, and with the notable difference in spelling and personal pictures I'd say it's pretty plainly OOG (out of game).

I'm beginning to get the impression RecycleOrDie is Alan Bradley.
