The ONLY commands that will work is ".PRINT RSCOM8" and ".REENTER".

".REENTER" goes to a device prompt that does not seem to have a correct answer... yet.

For the record, this might have been mentioned but the BAS files in the file list I'm assuming are BASIC files. In other words, they're applications and could potentially be executed.

And these guys are learning... New domain is also private. No more "In Hoc Signo Vinces", and "Harry Kelvin", eh J.J.? Wink

Found this about astronaut Gordon Cooper and his run-in with UFO's. Could he be Captain "Coop" Cooper on ad?

Also, Minot AFB is still an active Air Force base in North Dakota.

You mean the guy who developed photographs and motion picture film of a UFO landing that ended up getting sent to Project Blue Book at Wright-Patterson in Ohio? Yeah, probably. Could this be the titular Super-8?

I would say that there is a chance of it; more likely scenario is his flight happened to coincide with events in film. Maybe he was the initial one to see whatever is in the train car.

In the "Device?" promt, has anyone tried just typing "C:" (or whatever your hardrive is called). Maybe it tries to save something to the computer? I'd do it myself only I don't seem to be able to do the ":" sign.

Has anyone printed out the paper, cut out the black spots, and put them on top of one another? That might work....

I tried this virtually. Here's generally what I got, I'm sure someone can do this better than me:

greater
the
years and a testing
Europe the
devastated
Chinese
would inherit

I'm really unsure about those last couple, and I feel like anything could sound somewhat ominous when you're taking words from an article about nuclear war. No idea if this is important.

Tried that; in fact, tried a whole bunch of DOS commands I pulled off the internet (I've not played with DOS in over 15 years). Only ones that worked are the ones mentioned above.

A simple google of that phrase lead to this google result:
http://www.jfklibrary.org/Historical+Resources/Archives/Reference+Desk/Speeches/JFK/Nuclear+Test+Ban+Treaty+Speech.htm

The same speech is actually quoted in the newspaper (second page) flat out:

Odd that this is in big lettering

"And the survivors would envy the dead....for they would inherit a world so devastated by explosions and poison and fire that today we can not even conceive of its horrors."

It sounds familiar....

It's from President Kennedy's address to the nation on the Limited Test Ban Treaty on July 26, 1963. It gives an approximate date to when this newspaper was apparently published.

And the ad for "Rocket Poppeteers", the 'delicious frozen treat'...shades of "Slusho" (whose 'mystery ingredient' MUST be kept cold)...an odd coincidence, no?
