If you decompile the Flash (which many have done; it was the first way the new website was found) in to its source code, you will see code references to video components and other things. For example, the command to print the newspaper clipping discovered is in the source as static text, easily visible by anyone.

In the source code, there is nothing in there to indicate a correct answer for the "DEVICE" question.

When your at the DEVICE? screen, if you hit the tab button a yello box appears. Continuous hitting makes the box jump to black spaces on the page. Here's the weird part. Hitting enter produces a weird noise....

That's a feature of Flash within a browser; every Flash file will do that. Hitting "Tab" simply steps through the actionable items in the Flash object.

Yeah, and the sound only happens when that yellow box is highlighting the buttons on the virtual desktop underneath the window. They always made that noise when you clicked them, you are just using enter now.

That's just tabbing around to the different buttons on the page underneath...the print buttons and the various minimize/maximize/close buttons. Nothing too exciting.

Translated the gibberish from 8-bit ASCII to binary to 7-bit ASCII. It ended up pretty much the same stuff with some differing symbols.

If you minimize the front window in the remote desktop and drag it away, you see the print all pages box. It has been there all along, and it only prints out some stuff about stop posting openly, etc. The tab is only highlighting the print button underneath the window, along with the other buttons that have yet to do anything.

There is a somewhat more informative PDP-11 book at:
http://www.skrenta.com/pdpbook.txt,
but so far I've come up with nothing.

I need sleep.

I dont know if this is just me but on the rocket poppeteers website the dark part of the moon looks like a face about to eat the little boys rocket. Maybe I'm just seeing things.

I didn't get through the other pdp books that were posted, but I don't think this one applies to the pdp on scariest. One command we know is part of the scariest program is ".EXEC" for execute, and this book shows the execute command to be ".EXE". While this doesn't neccesarily exclude the possibility of other commands in this book working, it is safe to say that the creators didn't draw from this source or one like it to create the program we're dealing with, or at least not word-for-word.

The gumballs are are probably eggs, one has been eaten so there are 5 not six “out this world flavors” so the kid in the preview is probably the alien

One word for you: Slusho Wink

Oh, I'm not trying to say it is unrelated, there are definitely immediate similarities.
Agreed there, yellowdart. I've been strolling through the Slusho website ( http://www.slusho.jp/ ) - when you go to the "Flavors" section, there's a background of deep space behind the 'flavor bots', and a 'star' (upper left side) is briefly highlighted with a "...new flavors just added!..." message. I'm most curious to see what the Poppeteers website brings us, come tomorrow... Cool

Interesting theory. Maybe it's a government computer program and you have to have a certain access level? My money still lies on some other, more technical answer, one we'll probably be led to via the Rocket Poppateers website, should it ever open for business.
