"Lightyear Luke!" here.

Longtime lurker, rare poster. Basically only followed Cloverfield. Anyways... I did some googling on this idea, but figured that I would share so that people could maybe do better than I did. On the Russian Nuke page from RSCOM8, there is an ad for an Animal Rescue place, but the ad is partially cut off. All we can see is:

Quote:
Looking for a new addition
Save a Life
Adopt a pe

Sookie & Sm
Animal Rescu

Dozens of Animals
to Be Rescu
Take One Home

I feel like this can't be a coincidence. They're so careful with what they show us that it suggests this might be helpful. I've done some googling, but am struggling with finding anything. Might be a dead end, but figured it was worth pointing out and getting some googlers on.

Any thoughts?

I think were all losing track of the main issue here. we still dont know what the command is for the Device and we cant go any further until we do . Is it encoded in the newspaper? I think thats a major possibility. If not, where is it? what is it?

I wonder if we should be looking at Saturn? We're suppose to direct our rocketship to Saturn in the maze. I was browsing some info on Saturn and found that the Cassini satellite will be next reporting back to us on May 18. Think it could be anything at all?

So everyone else doesn't think that we'll be getting our "devices" when the Poppeteers coupons are responded to?

That's what I was thinking. Maybe a thumb drive or something that will be recognized by the PDP-11 Simulator. Unfortunately, I am TDY for another 2 weeks, so can't send anything in and get it in a decent time...

Maybe a floppy disk? Punch card? Stone tablet with hieroglyphics?

I may be stupid, but not a complete idiot.
Okay, I lied.
Can someone tell me what we need for this "Device"? I'm very confused by the whole thing.

OT: When we get our super secret decoder rings from the Rocket Poppeteers, we must party.

So, I have been doing more research on the PDP systems. I found that the memory inputs sometimes deal with mobile devices.. maybe a smart phone could reveal some insight.
Trying to figure out this device thing is tough. Apparently the only output for these things deals with "Memory I/O" I dont know what it would connect to but it is a start.. could be a smart phone.
Are there any mobile things that someone with a smart phone could hash out? I would but I dont have one.

Here is where i have been looking

Maybe a tape? The PDP-11 did have a tape drive. Given it was data tapes, but a cassette tape would pretty cool nonetheless, perhaps with a message from the mystery person behind the printout.

Yep. Also, don't know if this was found anywhere, but the date of the paper must be July 26, 1963 or later. Kennedy didn't make that speech until then. I found the speech in it's entirety HERE. I was attempting to check them against each other to make sure they match.

Also significant for that day, the first geosynchronous satellite was put into orbit. Never know what will play a part in this...
