This is a fictional newspaper article referring to an actual real-world speech by Kennedy. That doesn't mean it's a real article from a real newspaper.

Thanks again. I'm just trying to look at this from the game creator's point, and what kind of clues they might include.

That's true but it also doesn't mean that it would not have been printed in newspapers at that time.

[SPEC]I'm not sure if I'm the first to make this correlation but I now notice a tie-in with the Dan morris tesitmony and the JFK Speech.

Dan Morris wrote:
Do you know why we stopped exploding nuclear weapons? We were ordered to do it by those ETs from Orion. Orion - they came down and they told us, "Look, you can destroy yourselves, so we won't put up with that. And if you do that, if you explode that planet, and you've got the capability now…" That's when we really got their attention and they came down and they said, "Look, we won't let you destroy your planet." So we want you to stop all nuclear testing. They had already stopped us from using weapons. And then they told us, "No more nuclear testing."

John F. Kennedy wrote:

Yesterday a shaft of light cut into the darkness. Negotiations were concluded in Moscow on a treaty to ban all nuclear tests in the atmosphere, in outer space, and under water. For the first time, an agreement has been reached on bringing the forces of nuclear destruction under international control-a goal first sought in 1946 when Bernard Baruch presented a comprehensive control plan to the United Nations.

That plan, and many subsequent disarmament plans, large and small, have all been blocked by those opposed to international inspection. A ban on nuclear tests, however, requires on-the-spot inspection only for underground tests. This Nation now possesses a variety of techniques to detect the nuclear tests of other nations which are conducted in the air or under water, for such tests produce unmistakable signs which our modern instruments can pick up.

So if a connection exists, then maybe the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was a direct result of alien intervention.[/SPEC]

Could be, though it didn't actually stop nuke tests in the long run. Of course that would unspool a whole new thread to the alien conspiracy theory.

re: fake paper vs. real paper — I'd think that in order to reprint an actual, existing newspaper, all sorts of licensing and permissions (not to mention fees) would have to be incurred. And I doubt the paper would then want its ID removed for the privilege of participating.

And would a real newspaper then allow fake product ads (RP) to be inserted into its archival material?

Still much easier to create a fake article/newspaper referencing real world events. It's the simplest solution to achieve these results: Occam's razor and all that.

Movies and Tv shows do it quite often. When newspapers are used on screen anything not pertaining to actual plot is filled in with resl articles from real newspapers to make it have areal feel.Theres a term they use but it escapes me.And i believe after a certain amount of time newspapers are public domain.
But im not saying it was a real newspaper or real articles.Dunno if they would do tgat for a ARG.But they do that quite often for media used in films.

Edit- You can often buy these newspaper for collectables from certain sites and conventions.
Again was just throwing it out there.I'm assuming its all fake. Smile

I got a squiggly line...Not shaped like anything no matter how I turn the page.

I think all this gave us was a website that is closed.

Yes, it is "Closed" right now, up it will open when its 2, 4, or 6 am according to the newspaper. The stores close at 10, so i think its going to be back up in the morning

There is a second way to solve the maze, maybe it is used as a poppeteer "selection" tool

Has anyone tried to use the same technique as you guys found that sentence with this selection?

Not sure, but I think he's suggesting using the finished maze (perhaps overlaid?) on the other newspaper page to see what words it lines up with. Perhaps the points where you change direction. Just guessing this is what he meant.

File names?

Something tells me I'm about to get hit with a fish. Search didn't help me at all.... but....

Has anyone tried figuring out what the file names mean? Like GMRF or Gaussian-Markov Random Field Theory? I Don't know... just feel like I'm missing something.

Device?

Who can tell me that to mount a device the comand will be .BOOT?

like:

.BOOT DX1:DXMNSJ.SYS

at at this moment we don't know what the .SYS name is because there's not a .SYS on the AF file list?

Who is monitoring the STIES site for changes?
