[Info]INTERESTINg facts about the LogIn on Metacortechs.com

EDIT by AnthraX101 -- Note that this spoiler was found by messing with the flash behind the scenes. Take it with a grain of salt. Don't read it if you don't like the methods (It's probably "cheating")

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I jsut downloaded the MCLogin Flahs file, which is actually the file you see, when trying to Login into as an Employee.

I opened this file with notepad and found out an important thing:

The Flash file tries to open a TXT Database called "Members.txt" in the subdirectory "empdirectory" (http://www.metacortechs.com/empdirectory")
When trying to access this file, I got an 404 telling me, the file isn't existing. While trying to access the "/empdirectory" I got a 403, telling me that I have no access, but the directory seems to be existant.

The details of this login Flash file told me, that the file was last edited on october, 1st...
So they are working on this login file...

So I think somethings coming up with this file, maybe within the next few days.

try to keep u up2date

Also note that it looks like they are in the process of changing the login method. Click the "News" heading then click login. It sends you to a different login page (currently 404)

EDIT by AnthraX101 -- This info was found with similar methods to above. Don't read it if you don't want to see it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Before I even looked at these forums or any other MetaCortex info site, that's the first thing I tried to do Smile I decompiled all the SWFs and found fmodels.xml that loaded, mmodels.xml that didn't (404) and Members.txt that didn't. I'm not quite sure how the login SWF runs properly if it can't load the variables from the TXT, but it might be a dummy to confuse us...

Maybe just that file is locked. This file isn't.

or they realized someone else had found the same locations you did, and pulled the 'account file' until they came up with a better system for handling logins. Or it never went 'live', OR... They put it there to help with the backstory (hackers blah blah blah, increased amount of hits on the node) - its rather typical for a company to 'pull' a section of a website that has a security problem, rather then shutting down everything.

I found them too. initially the "members". then a few days later i downloaded the swf again and found the xml but the members seems to have gone.

Anyone have a full version of SWFDecomplier? It would be easier with that.

anyway its really out of game and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the xml only contains names we already have.

It wouldn't be "in-game" talking about decompiling the flash.

This one's been 'round the houses a few times, but I'm not convinced of it's credibility. There seems to be a lot for in one session.

They start out as the new site goes live (even before the flash is fully uploaded) and before you know it Bang, they're in Beths Metadex, have decoded the James Avery Binary and the Desktop Binary, and before they finish, the've started applying cryptography to the first paintover pic.

If this IS a real session, they should have finished the game by now. Very Happy

It seems real to me...

Considering the speed at which we collectively solve each individual puzzle as it's thrown at us, I definitely wouldn't be surprised if these people really did solve the many initial puzzles for metacortechs.com...

Timestamps (and a DATE) would help, though...
