UPDATE 20:30 PDT: Seems to be working. Report bugs in the General forum if you see any.

UPDATE: Maintenance window tonight from 1800-2200 PDT. The forums will be inaccessible beginning at 6:00pm Pacific time while we migrate the database from Scheherazade to Gaiman. Plan accordingly. Wink

That's right, kids! Upgrades are coming...it's time to retire our current database server Scheherazade in favor of less dated hardware in the form of a server named Gaiman. We don't anticipate much site downtime in the process but there will be a period of time while we migrate the database when we'll likely have to shut down posting for a bit. We'll try to minimize any disruptions in service and are looking forward to killing those pesky mySQL errors we've encountered on a few occasions recently. Watch this space for updates on when the maintenance window will occur and how long we expect it to last.

In related news, I desperately need the assistance of someone or ones with mad skillz in the PHP and regex arenas. There are some modifications I'd like to implement that appear to be beyond my (quite lacking) abilities to decipher and hack code, such as replacing the current visual confirmation system with reCaptcha, and figuring out how to embed Google Waves in posts, now that they've finally enabled that ability (oh man, this would be the greatest thing for reference compilation posts).
