About those computers in the wreckage...

It does appear they used the TRS 80 Model III for that shot, but that's likely because there were a bajillion of them made and are still pretty easily found. Prop department people do have limitations with what they can get.

There were of course plenty of very similar computers from the time, even made by DEC.

"Cargo Wreckage with box with AH/TTQ-1"

- After resizing a HD screenshot of that box 200% and lightening the heck out of it, I actually see AN/TTQ-1. Which one Google result gives me this page;

http://www.gordon.army.mil/ocos/Museum/AMC/radio2.asp

"AN/TTQ-1 and 2: filter and operation centers transportable in two and one trucks respectively for plotting flights of aircraft. Still smaller versions for use with gun and searchlight battalions were ANTSA-1 and 2"

You know, I was just thinking, they don't have to use actual computers, it wouldn't be that hard to create the facsimile of one for a film shot of wreckage. Personally I see no excuse if they are the incorrect computers, i.e. if the timeline doesn't fit.

ETA: See Euchre, I'm confused, is the post above me a troutable post or not? Cause technically it was posted before, http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=703701#703701 however it's also technically not the exact same information...

Considering it's in the same thread and the mention was not a really question or statement you repeated (certainly not verbatim), no - that's not a trout.

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but when the shot focuses (in the trailer) on the actual door that is storing the "thing" (for lack of a better word), we see things pinging off the supposedly sealed train door. I've watched it on my HDTV, but to no avail and capturing what those are.

Could it be bullets? That doesn't seem plausible, but I thought it might be an interesting thing to check out, as you guys are the masters here.

Those are rivets from the train car. Nothing special there.

It seems to be the bolts getting forced out of their holes. I was a little iffy on that too. The blows from inside the car in theory shouldn't really have been able to cause that effect. I was thinking that maybe the Thing was causing the damage by some highly magnetic expulsions rather than simply pounding with it's limbs?

Rivets? I don't see that happening. Almost everything in this trail represents something. everything is a symbol for another idea.

Magentisism (excuse me for my bad english) seems plausible giving hints, to it.

Oh and possibly a homage to Close encounters of a third kind?

Does anyone remember Roy Neary's truck in that movie? And how he drove across a tool booth chasing the UFO?

A comparison has been made to the yellow truck driven by Roy Neary in the Stephen Spielberg movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the yellow/brown pickup truck seen in the teaser trailer for Super 8. In an interview with JJ Abrams, he said that he wanted to pay homage to the Stephen Spielberg movies that he grew up watching. The similarities to the yellow pickup trucks could be pure coincidence or perhaps Abrams paying homage to one of his heroes and the Producer of Super 8.

Anyway, we are dealing with Aliens in this movie. Greys are usually associated with Area 51 and Greys have Telekinetic powers, which explains the spinning valve, the pounding, and the bolts flying out

then why couldn't he have opened it before, when he was on the train, when it was on motion?

Some kind of restraints?

Maybe.

He might have been in a tube or something that broke when it derailed, or asleep, something. We have no way to know at this point
