Recognizable Constellations

I emailed a teacher the following pictures, because, in his own words, he's been watching the sky for over 30 years. He couldn't recognize any of the stars, so I'm thinking that the editing team made the sky themselves. I'm a star-gazer myself, and I was really hoping for some hidden meaning in the night sky. Oh well, I'll keep looking none-the-less.

Dont know about the others, but constellation 2 is definitely Orion. Look at the alignment of the four stars on the upper right , its his bow. For some reason the other stars, usually very visible, is blocked out by something. But as an amateur astronomer, id recognize Orion anywhere. It was the first constellation i learned as a child and its always visible in the night sky.Not saying i know better than the experts, he was probably knocked off course by the fact that the others are not visible. Even notice how the only visible stars are in the upper and right sides. Dont you think if thats all they were looking at ,wouldnt it be centered and focused on them. Even spacially it fits that its Orion

See that's what I saw. I likewise am an amature stargazer but he fact the others don't match any I know or I can't place other than casseopea makes me think maybe I am just seeing what I want in the others. Anyone else have any input?

We Might Have a Time Frame

I compared the two, and I definitely see the similarities. Maybe the big explosion that was happening in the foreground of the original screenshot managed to block some random stars. Here's my comparison image, which the green dots representing the stars that were in the Super 8 trailer.

So I used a star map site for Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1977 (I'm pretty sure that's the year we're using, correct me if I'm wrong). It took me a while, but I arranged the dates and times so that Orion would be on the eastern horizon, because we know the train was heading east. Knowing by the landscape that it's not winter, I found that Orion is sitting in that spot on October 15, 1977 at 4am. It's a pretty rough estimate, but I'm willing to bet that's our time frame for this train wreck.

Here's the pic of the star map:

Here's the place to convert normal dates to a Julian Date:

Did you see this?

This could be very old news . . . I tried searching the forums and apologize if this was already brought to your attention.

I went back on to watch the trailer on Apple.com again today.
Typed in Super 8 in the search box in the upper right.

When you search their site for the trailer, the box under the search bar says the movie is "In theaters January 01, 1970".

Weird.

Apple's computers don't go past the year 2000. People are still waiting for an update. Wink

Which is of course a joke, because Apple computers were 'Y2k ready' from day one. (True story.)

Clues from the trailer
Looking for clues within the trailer

Numbers seem important. Numbers in the printed image from the PDP-11 sim lead to a zip code in WV. Numbers from the items on Craigslist lead to the Josh Minker 1-800 number.

There are more numbers in the trailer.

Toward the end of the trailer, as the camera approaches the wreckage of the train, it passes over a bunch of computer equipment and crates. One of the crates near the center of the frame has a number on the side of it.

I can't read the number, nor can I capture the frame. Maybe someone else can?

Sometimes it's easy to miss stuff with all the info on here. Just gotta read through it all and hope it sticks.

I found this number at the end of the trailer as we are looking through the camera lens and the item appears to rise from the wreckage. Looks like 48B. I posted it once before and it has never been discussed so it may not be of any importance.

Everything is worth noting

It may turn out that this number has importance somewhere...
