Good afternoon!

Training for the position of sales/stock begins today. It will be a hands-on process, unlike the training of many other employers. It will take place over the next business days, though it can also be completed at your own pace.

Training for this position is not very intensive. A number of basic skills are necessary for the job.

Below, we'll put you in a number of hypothetical situations. You decide what would be the best course of action. Those who decide well will be rewarded. To submit answers, please send them by Tuesday, June 1st for them to be considered. Copy the information below and fill in your answers. Then send it in an e-mail to me with the subject Sales and Stocking.

Situation #1:

Each day you go to restock a gas station, you notice that a certain flavor of Aguatero Frutas is sold out. However, fewer bottles were sold than were stocked. What would you do?

Situation #2:

When restocking a vending machine on a college campus, you notice that the machine is significantly damaged. What is your next course of action?

Situation #3:

Demand always seems to exceed the supply of a certain Aguatero Industries product at a supermarket. What do you do?

Situation #4:

You're trying to convince a manager of a convenience store to try a new Aguatero Industries product. How do you convince him/her?

Sent back my replies just now.

Nothing major, but I got an email yesterday acknowledging the position and saying I'll be getting access. The stuff in bold was bold in the email. Nothing suspicious, just informational. I did the italics.

Hello there.

I'm Justin McFly, the IT director here at Aguatero Industries. Congratulations on joining our team!

On Aguatero Industries' website, you'll soon be able to access the Team Member Center. This center is designed to keep you up-to-date with all of the most important announcements and happening at Aguatero Industries. As the president of environmental and community affairs, you will be considered a contributor on our website. This means you will have the ability to edit and author your own posts on the website and submit them for review before they are published.

Soon you will be receiving an e-mail from Wordpress which contains your personal username and password to access the team member areas of the website. Be sure to check your spam folder, as sometimes these Wordpress e-mails end up in there.

At no time should you share your username and password with another party. Doing so may be cause for termination.

The password that will be provided in this e-mail will be a temporary password. It should be changed as soon as you login for the first time.

Logging in for the first time is simple. Simply follow the link that the Wordpress e-mail contains and input your username and password. That will take you to a profile area where you can add or change various pieces profile information and your password. Your username cannot be changed.

After that, click "save changes." Then click "visit site" at the top of the page and navigate to "Team Member Center" and you will be able to see its contents.

After your first visit, logging in becomes easier. Simply scroll down on the main page to "employee login" and click on "login". Enter your username and password and then you will be taken to your Dashboard, where you can write new posts.

If you have any questions about this process, please let me know.

Your tech guy,
Justin McFly

The job application has an interesting message on it now. There's no more link to it on the website, but here y'go: http://aguateroindustries.com/careers/apply/204/

I followed its instructions, but that didn't do anything, except tell me I didn't meet their qualifications. Maybe they haven't finished it yet?

for those who can't read backwards (sort of) I think it says...

OK, things are starting to cook now... Very Happy

So Connor says to check the site (the pwd protected part) and it says the following...

Quote:
Update: 5/30/2010: They know about us. So I'm going to have to be very careful about what I post here. We have now have a very important person who has joined our team… some of you new Aguatero employees may know him. RCABQV UKNTG

I know Aguatero isn't hiring anymore… they've hired quite a few people. But not all is lost… with our new supporter, we can still get in. Go here… we can still get more insiders. You won't be getting a position… but you can read more about what we did at the link.

The capitalized letters were written in the background color so only appeared when you copy the text over; not sure what it says yet; working on it now; doesn't seem to be a straight transformation our dear president's name?

And the rest is about the backwards message in the previous comment; evidently a way non-employees can gain access to employee emails? Well done Connor...

Connor replied to my email:
Quote:

Thank you for letting me know.

Though I had already known that Aguatero knew about me, I had no idea they were so informed about our group and could even spy on me. We'll have to be very careful--this means you as well. I don't know what's in store, but it seems like there aren't many laughs around anymore.

You need to be careful as well. Don't worry about me... I'll stay in the shadows and try to keep our group safe. We've got to move forward before anything really bad happens. I know Aguatero... they always have something up their sleeve, and they're ready to kill for it.

Hey, new here, and to ARGs. I'm looking at applying for one of the jobs and joining up. I dunno i anyone noticed, but there's a new Memorial Day post on their website: http://aguateroindustries.com/memorialday/

I haven't downloaded the image or looked for clues yet, but will do so once I get a chance.

EDIT:
So looked around, it looks like the Jobs page has been hacked to allow anyone to join under the position "Advisor". I applied for it, although no email as of yet. Also applied on Conner's page.

The following code is on the page
Code:
terces a ti peek segap ylno eeyolpem ot ssecca niag ot liame dna eman ruoy ni epyt gub demmargorp a si siht

*poof, this was already solved.*

Also: found this: http://aguateroindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/ - all images uploaded to the wordpress blog. I checked the Flag image, but there's no metadata in it (EXIF or otherwise).

Welcome commander... but that was already solved a few posts up. So a friendly Trout to you! Smile

I also just saw the Memorial Day post. I doubt it has anything special with the game, but the poem In Flanders Fields is by John McCrae. Enjoy the day off! Smile

Customer Service

Here's the 1st step of orientation for customer service. Definitely cementing the creepy megacorp vibe.

Welcome to Aguatero Industries.

I am Cheryl Roberts, the customer service supervisor for Aguatero Industries. I'll be handling your orientation and training for the position of customer service representative. This training will last several days, but you can complete it at your own pace. It will take place only on business days.

This training is somewhat unconventional as we won't begin with boring background information about Aguatero Industries. You will discover this on your own as you proceed through our training and orientation.

So, let's begin.

Today, we're going to examine how to handle customers who call into one of our call centers. Let's take a look at an example.
Example:

(Aguatero Team Member) Good afternoon, thank you for calling Aguatero Industries. We appreciate your patience during your short hold. This is Karla speaking--how may I help you?

(Customer) I can't believe how much your charged me this month! I hardly used any water!

(ATM) Okay, sir, let's take a look at this problem. What is your name, sir?

(C) Harold Patrick.

(ATM) Okay, Mr. Patrick. Let's see what we can do about this. I'm accessing your customer record now... okay, it looks as though the rates for your area have increased.

(C) No shit! My bill has almost doubled! I can't believe...

(ATM) Okay, Mr. Patrick, I'm going to need you to calm down. I cannot help you unless you speak rationally with me.

(C) Rational! You tell me if it's rational to double your rates in ONE month!

(ATM) Mr. Patrick, please calm down.

(C) No, I won't be calming down! This is ridiculous!

(ATM) Sorry, Mr. Patrick, I cannot help you any further. Your water service will now be shut down. Thank you for your time.

This is an actual conversation that took place three days ago in one of our call centers. As you can see, one of our customers was quite upset about the increase in his rates. Our team member tried to calm him down, but that was not possible.

Now, let's try an exercise. After each customer line, provide a viable response that you could use in the situation. Your answers will be judged against the others' to determine the best way to handle the situation. We'll discuss the best and worst ways to respond to the situation on Tuesday, June 1st.

To submit this exercise, copy the the dialogues below and paste it into an e-mail. Fill in your responses and then send them to me with the subject Training #1. Try to submit it by June 1st in order to receive a grade for your efforts. Please make sure you put your name at the bottom of the e-mail.

Customer: My tap water smells strongly of chlorine. What should I do?
Aguatero Team Member:

Customer: I live near the Gulf of Mexico. Is my water safe to drink?
Aguatero Team Member:

Customer: I'm paying triple what I paid last year for tap water. Is this how you treat your customers?!
Aguatero Team Member:

Customer: Your new "eco" bottles don't really help the environment. Your bottled water business is destroying the environment!
Aguatero Team Member:

Customer: Thank you so much for your water products. They are just so delicious I have to drink four bottles per day!
Aguatero Team Member:

-Cheryl Roberts
