^ Actually, I don't think there has been any discussion of sending the coupon in by Certified Mail, only by regular mail.

That said, I don't think that this is what the email is suggesting. I think it's suggesting we need a certificate/welcome package/what have you from RP.

Certifiable???
Astro Nutty

I don't know what everyone put for astronaut name! I put "Topper". And you?
Did anyone put Coelacanth? Or maybe something related to anything else. I didn't see many specifics in the Forum search for that.

Maybe that's what we're missing. Something specific in the form. Not just sending it in?

Thoughts?

I thought for sure at least one of us sent their coupon by some priority/receipt type delivery method, but I've tried a couple of searches and I can't find the post stating it. I don't remember what method was mentioned. If anyone did send theirs to get a receipt, maybe they can speak up.

That, or it was only discussed but no one actually sent it certified.

If so, it can't hurt to try it. At any rate, all certified mail would do is confirm delivery at the PO box listed on the coupon... basically it would prove that post office received your mailing. Generally we can guess that without certified since our coupons haven't been returned to us undelivered.

Agreed otherwise: certified is referring to us being officially registered in the RP/Coop program, it's not a mailing directive.

Certified

Having worked for the Postal Service, I'll weigh in on the "certified" mail angle.

You can send a letter out by "just" certified (or even registered) mail without a receipt. The clerk just makes a note of the particulars for future reference.

Sending it "with receipt notice attached" would confirm (by way of the green post card returned to you) that it had got to the destination intended.

I can't recall when last I saw a receipt, but it seems like there were boxes that stipulated who could sign for receipt of the mail.

If someone checked the box indicating that only the addressee could sign for the item, and specified Captain "Coop" Cooper, don't expect very good results.

Something else to consider--we've all been to the Post Office and had to stand in line. I just can't see someone going to their (virally-motivated) P.O. box and having to stand in line each and every time to sign for a certified letter with a coupon in it. That would get old real fast!

I suppose if the person picking up the mail could do it once every week or so that wouldn't be such a drag, but signing receipt after receipt...whew!

Is anyone posting in the vicinity of the locale where the post office is?

I saw somewhere on here where someone was trying to crack Josh's e-mail account--what's next, staking out the P.O. box where the coupons go and then pursuing the party that picks up the mail?

Looks like Ii wasn't very clear. I was asking about the clipping from the print out that everyone sent in. The form to sign up. What did everyone put as their Astronuat name?

Forgive me I'm using an iPhone to post with. Work has this site blocked. Smile

Very potential IMHO.

maybe these should be added to a list somewhere "potential future IG websites.."

I haven't actively followed many ARG's (well, clearly, with my post count), but it seems rather unprofessional from what I've seen from others to simply leave a site parked to turn it on later. Not only does it telecast their next move, but they should have the site ready to go as soon as they give the clue that leads to it.

There was someone fairly near there that hasn't seemed to have reported back. We did talk about someone doing a modest sort of stakeout to see if someone actually picked up the mail from there. Unlike cracking an email account, just observing someone picking up mail doesn't constitute breaking into anything, and isn't really any kind of crime unless the observer actually accosts the person picking up the mail in some fashion. If the 'stake out' is just to see if there's a real human picking it up, that'll tell us for sure that its a valid mailing address that someone is attending to. If its being forwarded though, a stake out would be fruitless. Since there has been no response, I'm sure most of the fans would like to know if they've wasted a stamp or if there's some freak collecting info from the players instead of the real PMs. (Psssst, if you're reading this Super 8 viral people - THROW US A BONE!)

Oh, and as for the captaincoop domain, one day is not enough to be certain its IG. We first had the email reported here a day later, but that doesn't mean someone who doesn't post here didn't get it a day earlier. Considering the RP site's state, I would think they would have done something similar for the CaptainCoop domain if they were really planning to use it.

I sent mine in this afternoon... now I just have to wait.

And as for the other domain names, could it be that perhaps they are buying them up to prevent future gamejacking, and have no intentions of using them?

I'm starting to think, there isn't something going to happen with Rocket Poppeteers. That it's a set up and keep our mind of what we need to know.

If the site is temporarily down, why would they make a whole image to let us know and not a html text. There is something wrong.

I reckon, and this is a massive guess (as always!) that the email is telling us to send off our coupon to join the fight- that way, later on in the game, we will probably be sent a clue by post- and Red Cozmo will come in later on when this occurs. So just send the coupon and wait...time will tell.

I think you are on to something. I'm gonna do it too. Let you guys know if anything happens!

Ok. Let us know. Rolling Eyes

would it cost a lot to send the coupon from Belgium to America...?

It cost me about 60p to send it from England, so not much.

What we have to remember is that this is a marketing campaign as well as a game- and in marketing you have to collect statistics in order to see how successful your campaign is. It's exactly why flyers for nightclubs will have a free drink if you take the flyer to the night- it is to check to see how well the marketing is doing- it also lets you see which demographic it is working on. There's equations you use, so in this case, I reckon for every person who sends the coupon there is probably a hundred who know about it. the little rewards we get for taking part are like gifts for helping them prove their marketing is working. It's easy to click on a website, but to actually put in the effort to send the coupon shows you have a lot invested in this and are probably money in the bank as far as the actual film goes.

But enough of the reeal world reasons- no matter where you are in the world, send the coupon, get involved.

Oh, and my astronaught name was Sky Writer- nothing to do with the game, and I don't think it matters- what probably matters is which route you toojk through the maze- there are two.

I have my doubts about sending the coupon, becouse the movies that shows here, in my country, are the most [I don´t know if its the right term] "blockbuster". So, some kind of stadistic from someplace where the movies comes after they success in USA, I dont think its important [besides the cost of the send post mail]
I like to give it a shot, though.

I'm sure they have some sort of referral address where these things are being redirected to. Its a lot easier than finding and hiring someone in Minot ND to keep going out to the PO box and emptying the hundreds of letters they must have gotten and sending them back out west here to JJ Hq.

I don't think it's a setup, but it could be that we are just completely missing something and need to go back and find it before we can get the site to open. I think either we will get something in the mail soon, or we need to find a use for the expcnv and find the DEVICE.
