is it just me or is the light silhouetting the bottom left hand portion of the moon look to be similar to the sun? Possibly a solar eclipse, or maybe something coming out from behind the moon? It looks to me to be the explosions you see in videos on the sun when the sun creates solar flares. You can spot this by the mans finger and by the right wing of the rocket pop the kid is holding.

If so the Pink Floyd reference might be even more intriguing then i first thought.

"All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel.
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save.
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
beg, borrow or steal.
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

"There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark." "

I see what you're saying but I find it highly unlikely that an album released in 1973 would have something to do with an ARG taking place in the early late 50s-early 60s.

Still the solar flare business may come into play later but as of right now I just don't think it has anything to do with Floyd.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else, sent in my coupon to become a rocket poppeteer, and as I put it in the mail box said "here goes nothing"

Excellent! I say find and stake out the P.O. box every day from open to close for a few weeks and see if J.J. comes to get our mail-ins.

But seriously, if you are going anyway, I would see if you could get eyes on that P.O. box, see if the number actually exists at least, as a confirmation. It couldn't hurt. That way we know what happened if everyone who sent it in gets a return-to-sender.

Wow, what are the odds? I can't wait to see what you find out, especially since I just mailed out my coupon! Laughing

Has anyone else here had the words SOCKEM' BOPPERS! stuck in their head ever since they heard "Rocket Poppeteer", along with the song from that commercial. I'm about 9/10th insane at this point.

It seemed to me when I saw the site last night that they were definitely pointing to something. The only thing that comes to mind to me is the dark side of the moon. Could this be a reference to Pink Floyd? And if so would we find anything meaningful in the lyrics to one of the songs on this album?

Possibly, but I still think it is a logo. We'll learn more tomorrow.

Anyway. I'll be back on later, going to a party. Laughing

pointing to the Nazis on the moon. Wink

uhhh...pdp handbook anyone???

http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/6.097/readings/pdp11-40.pdf

umm...if I am posting in the wrong place and we have exhausted scariest thing.com please let me know, but has anyone seen this handbook??? it is not searchable, due to the fact that it is uploaded from a doc circa 1972 but it does discuss devices that can be used as peripherals and storage for the PDP-11. I have a hot date, so I gotta run Wink but I think it may be worth it to type in one if not all of the devices mentioned in section 1.3/

Again, if I have another part of the convo to post this in please let me know. I missed a hell of a lot in only 2 days! Mailing off for my "poppeteers" tomorrow Laughing

Indeed, confirm if there is a box 1331, and if you can, take a pic of it. Staking it out in a casual sense would be handy, but if you loiter there enough or seem too suspicious it could be bad. The box might be rented and active, but everything might be forwarded - so it's possible nobody would show up to the box at all.
