I think we've talked about this before, but the moon on the Rocket Poppeteers logo looks a lot like a solar eclipse. Maybe we'll get movement on that site at the next solar eclipse? According to the NASA eclipse guide, there is one on July 11, but it won't be visible in the U.S.

Since we've dated the newspaper to circa 1963, I checked those eclipses and found that there was a total solar eclipse on July 20, 1963...it was only visible in part of the U.S. (Maine).

I don't know if it has anything to do with anything...but that moon really looks like an eclipse to me. Confused

But it is a cresent. It can't possibly be an eclipse. During an eclipse, the moon is completely black because the sun is directly behind it. No light would be seen anywhere on the side facing us, light doesn't bend that way.

I mailed mine in today. Spent a whole buck on postage. But I don't wanna be one of those people thinking "dammit I wish I sent that in!!!"

If the PM is reading this, I would have suggested "Send in a SASE" (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope). That way you don't have to pay for postage for whatever you want to return to us (if you actually are going to return something). Plus it'll give the people outside of the US a bigger inclination of being included...

I get what you mean, the luminous ring around the edge does look like that, but you can also see on the poppeteers site that part of the moon facing us, the crescent towards the bottom left, definitely has light striking and reflecting off of it, so the sun can't possibly be directly behind the moon. I think the glow is just put there by the artist to either make it look hazy or to make the moon look brighter. Now I would like to know what kind of crazy is coming out of the dad's finger...

So who else has been typing in certain website names in hope to find another website?...

I tried "Ihaveproof.com" but nothing came up.

But then, "Ihaveproof.net" worked, nothing much was on it so I decided to look at the information about the site and it was created last fall...It's probably nothing, but I have a feeling there is a website out there that we need to find.

I searched on Bing for a J. Smith in Minot, and something came up. (That's the name mentioned at the bottom right on the page with the Rock Poppeteer ad.) Then again, "J. Smith" is extremely common, so I might just be stalking an innocent OOG Minot resident...

In Gordon Cooper's autobiography Leap of Faith, there's a mention of a UFO incident in Minot (which has been mentioned previously) and a bunch of stuff to do with telepathy.

Here's the link for the Amazon product page. You can Look Inside and keyword search for content. Maybe there's more here...

edit: There's a bunch of info about Valerie Ransone and "Space Kids" with psychic abilities. This gels with some of the theories going around. Maybe it's not a camera but (super) eight gifted Space Kids? Searching Google also comes up with lots of results.

The Rocket Poppeteer page shows a partial lunar eclipse. If you scroll down.. this page shows one that looks very close to the drawing.

The NASA site shows there will be a partial lunar eclipse on June 26th 2010.

I can dig it.

I also like the idea that mailing in the coupon will eventually net us logins to rocketpoppeteers.com. It even makes logical sense, with the existence of the website and the ad. Even though the newspaper ad really is very very old =P
Then again, RocketPoppeteers.com could be a modern day front for a secret organization...
ooooo

Also as far as the newspaper clippings go...has anyone tried folding the two x's toward one another to see if anything lines up or any images surface by doing so...I know that they lined the two newspapers up using the x's but maybe folding them somehow will accomplish something?

http://ipeedalittle.com/super8/
It's been done before.

That's not what he/she was asking. They said they knew the newspapers were lined up to get the message, but they were wondering if folding the pages would accomplish anything.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huzita–Hatori_axioms
these are the seven axioms that define all paper folding. I can see how to apply the first two to the pages with the X's, but i dont have a printer available to test out what would happen. could someone print the pages out and see how to apply the other 5 axioms to try to get a result?
