I don't think this is a pre-existing font. Looks to me like a customized version of a rather 'generic' semi-condensed sans-serif font, with the trailing serif points and swooshes added to it.

The O also looks even more condensed than the other letters, since the height/width ratio seems to change moving to the right. Look how squashed the S is by comparison, much closer to square. Yet it's a very normal sans-serif S otherwise, which leads me to believe it's a custom adaptation of a standard thick, sans-serif font.

Just a guess though. I tried an Identifont search and it didn't come up with anything close — it can dial in fairly well to an existing font, even if it's not an exact match. Also leads me to believe this is custom work.

Although you can create such graphics with text totally manually, it's usually easier with a computer to take a font and apply effects to it. With some curve distortion and motion blur, you could pretty well get to the point that we see on that site, and it'd probably obscure it enough that text recognition couldn't work well enough to match the font. If such distorted text were so perfectly easy to match, CAPTCHA wouldn't be able to snare any spam bots.

I don't have the best eye for fonts and typography, and my main Photoshop machine is still down for now.

Just got a printout. It's too late to get it in the mail today Cursing but hopefully by mailing it tomorrow it's not too late to get to Minot in time for the next step in the game.

Follow up on email received

Just wanted to follow up on my earlier posts in this thread about sending an email to "coop@rocketpoppeteers.com" and receiving a response from "captaincoop@rocketpoppeteers.com" three days later.

I sent follow up emails and have received no further responses.

I'm going to now post the headers from the email I got back in the hope that someone will find something interesting about it. One interesting thing I found is that one of the originating IPs listed is in the Netherlands, which makes me wonder what the deal is and whether this response was really IG. I've bolded the IP I'm talking about below.

I've also blocked out my email address as blehSPLATbleh.com...

The message I sent had a subject of "Ok..." and the body said "Not posting publicly...what's going on?"

The response said:

Sorry, kids. Captain Coop Cooper responds to verified Poppeteers only!

Become a Rocket Poppeteer and join the race to outer space!

I don't know what to make of the header info, but the reply seems to make it clear that we will need to be registered (via the mail-in coupon?) before we can access any feeback/contact source.

Odds are that still won't be an email contact, but rather a pipeline of them feeding viral info/missions to registered Poppeteers. I don't think this phase has begun yet.

I found a large envelope in my mailbox today, hoped it was from the game. Nope, just info on kitchen appliances. Sad

Doesn't it seem pretty weird though that I was able to get that one response, three days later, but have gotten no response to any further emails?
