Is this safe?

For an ARG I am making, I am considering making it so the players have to send a letter (not confirmed) to my address. I am only 13, so would it be safe to include my address? (it would be a hidden clue, of course) I would consult with my parents as well.

I would strongly recommend against having anything sent to or from your actual address. Even though the people on this board are generally trustworthy, there is no way to guarantee they would be the only ones ever to find the clue. Remember once it is on the net it is there forever.

Requesting the players to send an email to a yahoo, gmail or other type address that you can set up just for your game is much safer.

And for the record I would give this same advice no matter the age of the PM.

This is good advice. Don't use your real address. You might be able to get your parents to help you rent a Post Office Box to use somewhere instead.

Aside from saftey issues, people can use reverse address look-up things to find out your name.

I just wouldn't volunteer personal information as a PM of a game. There is no need to do so.

But if you must have "snail" mail... speak to your local postmaster about "General Delivery." This just goes to the post office and you pick up the mail at the post office does not require an address to use

Quote:

General Delivery is available for customers if carrier service or a PO Box is not an option. Individual mailpieces will be held for up to 30 days and can be conveniently picked up by presenting identification. This is also a great option if you don't have a permanent address. To find which office is designated for General Delivery at your location, please contact your local Postmaster.
