Seeking PMs and Potter Fans

Four years ago I attempted to create a Harry Potter ARG (something I am surprised has yet to be done). I was only 16 at the time, and didn't really know what I was doing. The team of people working for me all bailed, slowly but surely (though there are no hard feelings, I know life is rough sometimes). Four years later I am looking to get it going again. We had quite a bit of work done, but now I need a new team to help me out.

Don't be fooled by "Harry Potter," this isn't going to be a childish, simple ARG. I want it to be a challenge even to seasoned ARG players. I think it will be a great way to bring the fandom together again.

If you are interested in helping or just want more information (I don't want to discuss it too much on here, that kind of ruins the whole "behind the curtain" aspect...), please email me at eisforemerald at gmail dot com with the following information.

Name:
Age:
Country:
Any Prior Experience with Websites, ARGs, or other Computer Skills:
Why you are Interested in this Project:
How much time per week you think you can devote to this project:
Any Other Comments:

Thanks!

Well I would venture to say that the last book was anything but a children's light read. I read it as a 32 year old male and it had me at the edge of my seat! Smile

Good luck with this project.

I have gotten some interest, but not as much as I would like. I want to clarify what I am looking for to maybe gain some more applications.

I'm not necessarily looking for extremely experienced, highly qualified people. Although I won't lie, that would be nice, all I am really looking for are people who know a bit about Harry Potter, a bit about the internet, and have an interest in being behind something that will be played by an audience just itching for a new way to experience the community.

If you have any interest at all, shoot me an email with the information I posted above. Don't be afraid of being turned down, unless I see a serious problem, or I get a ridiculous number of people responding, I'm not planning on turning many people down. I think that a team works best if you have people from different backgrounds, with different levels of experience, and therefore a lot of different ideas to bring to the table.

Ok I am gonna do one last call for Puppetmasters. We could use all the help we can get, and I sincerely believe that this is exactly what the Potter Community needs. I can't believe no one has made a real Harry Potter ARG yet. With such a large fan base and an interesting mythology, it seems like a no brainer to create an ARG tailor-made to bring the many different types of people who make up that fandom together in a unique and new way.

The possibilities for such a project are endless. The community has bands, concerts, conventions, vloggers, podcasts, websites, and so much more than can be incorporated to gain more interest and interactivity.

See the information in the first post if you want to apply. I will take applications until the end of this coming Sunday.

I really hope you consider this. It will be a lot of fun! Smile

Hi EisforEmerald,

I can only speak for myself, but I suspect many PMs wouldn't get involved with copyrighted material like Harry Potter for wariness of it being pulled and possible lawsuit ensuing.

If you'd like to see an official ARG, rally support amongst other fans and submit your desire to J.K.Rowling... she probably hasn't even thought of it, but would likely consider it if there were enough interest.

If you want to take the unofficial fan fiction route, maybe seek out other fan creators like yourself e.g. http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com/storysearch.php http://www.fanfiction.net/book/Harry_Potter/ http://fanfiction.mugglenet.com/

Best of luck Smile

I can act, and have PM'd my own ARG http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26317&search_id=134386644

If you wanna see the acting prowess I have (amateur, not professional) see the youtube link in the top post on the link. I'm not great at acting but I'm reliable and have done the ARG thing before.

Also, I was nicknamed "Harry Potter" in school, but then again, any young guy with dark hair and glasses is called that these days lol.

I would suggest contacting the publisher and author for permission to use copywrite material, even if you are not charging a fee. Fair use is well and good, but if you are basing an ARG in that world and using characters from that world, best to be certain you won't get the law coming down on you.
