No, originally, they just had Slender Man appearing as a joke. That was their thing; a fitness channel, but their twisted humor of having Slender Man randomly appear. The suit and tie was having their friend dress up as Slender Man for the videos.

But somehow, their videos managed to attract the REAL Slender Man, and now here we are.

Long story short: It was just them screwing around with a fake Slender Man, but now they're dealing with the real thing.

Oh... Well that sorta ruined the series Sad

 		I didn't read through the entire topic, just because it's a bit tl;dr for me. However, I'm in the process of watching episode two and I swear the playground seen in this episode and the one seen in one of the earlier MH is the same one. I could be wrong, though.
I'm enjoying this, even if it isn't MH related. I love me some slender man. Smile
