I think with the ghost of the headmaster it could be that slendy and the rake were inhabiting the school and the children could have mistaken them for the ghost. They assumed it was the headmaster.

Not to say that you're trouting or anything. Nothing's decided.

Personally, I think the idea seems a little too... easy. Like, not only would that be obvious, but simply using that legend/rumor as an explanation would take little to no originality on their part.

It makes a little sense, what with the Slender Man considering Vince as "his" as in "his orphan" but still. They probably have something crazier up their sleeve.

Although the personal horror along those lines? If the slender man was once really a normal man..

that means whatever process turns someone into an eldritch horror could happen to our boys. Or us.

Even though I was one of the ones who suggested it, I'd kind of discounted the Rake being the noises Vinnie was referring to... until the compilation video. Now I'm just leaning more and more to that side.

Though, it's still possible it was slender distortion, if the way he messes with electronics is a ridiculously high EM field. But, since it doesn't happen all the time, it'd have to mean he has the capability of turning it on and off...

I hate not knowing. The boys better let us know for sure what's going on soon.

I'm kind of two minds about this. The videos suggest that we're supposed to associate the Rake with a particular sort of heavy-breathing noise. I can buy that, and it's awesome. That just seems too subtle to be the sort of thing you'd notice over the phone, though. I wouldn't have any trouble handwaving that away if it turns out to be the case, but I'm not sure the Rake noises are obvious enough for the boys to use as a clue to the carjacker's identity.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time imagining the Rake lurking in the back seat of Ryan's car and then springing up mid-drive. He also just looks to delicate to survive a collision that would wreck Ryan's car, but, then, so does Slendy.

My money's still on the "noises" being Slendistortion, but I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if it turns out to be the Rake.

There'd also be a bit of a plothole if it wound up being the Rake, because according to Alex he has an overwhelming stench... and if that alone was enough to wake him, I think you'd smell it if he was hanging out in the back of your car.

And as for the dead headmaster thing, it could be that Slenderman isn't the headmaster at all, but only showed up to start stalking kids after they committed the murder.

What wiki page? Also, you couldn't even manage to put the url of the page you found?

I'm inclined to think you're making stuff up.

Le sigh:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._James_Corenthal

Checking the links on the page lead to this site:

http://www.forgottenoh.com/Counties/Stark/fairmount.html
So not the wikipedia page for the hospital. You meant the page for the imaginary doctor which was created for the game.

Do you guys think Ryan was actually in a car accident? I agree when others have said before that Vince doesn't act like he actually witnessed the crash over the phone. I took it that Vinny just knew Ryan was very panicked and must be hurt and said "car crash?" since that would be the most obvious thing he could think of. But he sounds unsure of himself, thus the pause before saying he "heard those noises." Would it make sense Ryan is just being attacked off in some other area and is just then able to call the guys/the rake got a hold of the phone?

Vince is historically stoic about things, and tends to ignore large events though. It would totally be in character for him to react to a car crash with a non-reaction.

Indeed. Additionally, it would be in line with the more naturalistic performances we've been getting from the EMH boys. When people are confronted with or witness tragedy in real life, they're usually (in my experience) a lot more subdued than you'd expect them to be. Usually, and again in my experience, the rages and wails come after the information has been processed, which usually takes a little bit.

EDIT: For instance, when I was a freshman, two of my fraternity pledge brothers were in a plane crash. I was responsible for contacting the other ~20 members of our group and telling them that, at that time, one of our brothers was dead and another was in critical condition. To a one, the reactions were silence and, basically, a non-word. "Huh" or "oh", with the occasional "what".

Yeah. Intial news is always really quiet, then the crying starts. And if we look at it IG, they probably cut any of the more hysterical reactions. There are some things you don't share

So I've been lurking since about half way through Marble Hornets. Been following EMH from the very beginning. Never posted because I don't really have anything to contribute. But I wanted to let you all know, that even though there is a lot of off topic discussion in here, I actually really enjoy reading through everyones banter. I have read through every page, sometimes I've had a lot of catch up to do...but I actually look forward to it. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Same here, becky. Smile The banter just means that everyone here is having fun. And that's a great thing to see.

(Hello everyone! I'm new around here!)

I agree with thinking that the deadpan reaction is just natural. Usually when something tragic happens, you just go into shock. It's a defensive reaction, which is why I can excuse the behavior in 'Alex' as well. The boys are going through an emotional train wreck right now and probably just don't know what to do.

On another note, I had a thought today. What if our Tall and Slender Friend took Jessa as some sort of insurance policy?

Think of it this way. Damsel suggested that not thinking about Him is the best way to stop him from coming after you, right? Well, what's one thing in the world you would never ever forget?

The loss of a loved one.

Maybe Slenders took Jessa as a way of making sure Jeff would continue to think about the situation. As long as he's searching for her, he will keep thinking about the whole Slender situation and that way Slendy can keep interfering with the guys? Damsel could never forget either, probably because of what happened to her family. No matter how much she tried, she still put him in her paintings. She wouldn't admit to his existence or openly talk about him, which seems to have kept him at bay.

That is insanely brilliant! I love it.

And if the Rake is a purely physical creature, he and Slendy might have evolved some sort of codependent relationship. Slendy introduces himself into a situation to make sure he comes to mind when weird stuff is happening, then the Rake creeps in to make sure people keep thinking about weird stuff. And to feast.

If you put it that way, it sounds more like a symbiotic relationship.
