It seems my descent into madness was well received. Lovely.

@re: Bioshock

I actually didn't think that they'll push the mind control angle from Bioshock. Rather, I think this may (probably isn't, but it is relaxing to tend epileptic forests) be a reference to Bioshock's, let's say metaplot. What I loved about Bioshock was (spoilered, for the unfortunate souls who are yet to play the game):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

How the game gave the player the perfect illusion of free will up to until Andrew Ryan's murder. The game never made you act like a puppet, but you did anyway because of the convention of the genre: Listen to the voice with the radio. This is a lovely example of the double abyss structure applied on an emotional level. The player goes trough the same realization as the character: The shock that what the player thought was his/her own idea wasn't. It was mind control so subtle neither the character, nor the player noticed it.

Thus, this reminds me of this situation. An entity that is almost certainly hostile asks you to give up a clear advantage you have over it (the collective genius of the unforum). You accede. It than asks for a set of information that is custom made to mess with you. You give it freely. Why? It's a game. Them's the rules.

Okay. Now I'll stop tl;dring about this.

@re: Everyone suddenly becoming rabbits

Is this the super long setup of a game of Bunnies&Burrows? Because if it is, I must give mad props to the GM. Very Happy

@Lewa
Discworld reference acknowledged and appreciated. Smile

That reminds me, I need to finish that book so I can get to Thief of Time and Night Watch.

Anyway, Rabbit #133 here.

Quite so. Though, I'd love to see some eventual repercussions for the whole talking smack to slendy, since as we've seen (indeed the entire premise of EMH to begin with) Slendy don't take insults too well.

Hey, so sorry do this, but I've been uber busy with Thanksgiving madness and I promise I'll catch up, but can I get just a quick overview of whats going on? I get theres some sort of tournament and a new video, but have there been any phantom tweets? (The update thread hasn't been that helpful)

Thanks (and Happy Thanksgiving!)

SO.

We got a new video entitled- Ryan & the SEVENTRIALSOFHABIT.

In it we are told that Ryan unfortunately passed away after receiving an invitation to a tournament of sorts from HABIT. He broke the one rule that HABIT placed.

This has led to many other people applying to the tournament, with the entrants passing the 160 mark.

Also in that video we saw footage of Evan talking to a non-existent person. We are not sure what was happening, only that he is becoming more insane.

We also received tweets from HABIT telling us some people applied incorrectly, to have a Happy, yet paranoid, Thanksgiving, and that Rabbits 151-153 were eliminated.

Assuming you've watched the new video and have seen the email and all. We're emailing HABIT to be included in the tournament which no one knows anything about yet except that Ryan died because he broke the rules. There was one phantom tweet about how some people filled out the script wrong. There was another about even HABIT needing a holiday and telling us to enjoy our families while we still have them. and the most recent one about the elimination of 151-153.

Thank you for this. I knew there was an absolutely perfect example of this type but I couldn't for the life of me remember who. /failpratchettfan

DandA, there've been a couple phantom tweets from Habit (was it confirmed that Habit's the one posting in all caps?): telling us to go say hi to our families while we still had the chance, and bitching because some people made him go travel in the holidays, if memory serves me right. Guys, have there been any others I've forgotten?

edit: beaten

On a semi-related note, every time TweetDeck gives me a pop-up notification my whole body twitches towards prnt scrn in case it's a ninjatweet 8|

You know, many of us mentioned we value our freedom in a way we gave that up. Anyone think that maybe this is designed to pick those of us with enough free will left to act on our own off and get more puppets for the other team. Think about it if we do these things and obey the rules we have given up one part of our freedom, Ryan finally had enough and contacted Vince.

Then Ryan was dead. Ryan still had enough freewill to think no to a quest given to him. Is it possible they are finding the most obedient HYBRIDS and those who still think enough on their own.

Also RABBIT #139 here.

So since Evan has a family, this makes me feel that HABIT isn't a personality of Evan, but just a possesion.
And then I don't know what's worse. HABIT as a person, a personality, or something without a body of sorts. Or that he could technically be possessing more than one person Sad

Received the phantom tweets while I was at dinner with my family. Had to explain what was going on to my family. Good thing HABIT gave us permission to do that...

When I got the one about the players being eliminated... eeeeg. D: I'm unsure whether I believe they were real contestants or not, but still.

I got the first one right as I was about to eat lunch with my family. I honestly didn't know what to do. I kind of told my sister a little bit of what was going on, but she doesn't really understand it.

Then, the second one came in during my post-turkey nap. I felt like a little kid being yelled at. I literally retreated into my blanket-nest for a minute. I'm a wuss. Embarassed
