I don't think they want us to drop the issue other than him being angry that we brought it up. It's a natural reaction. Still don't think it's a clumsy continuity fix with the LACK of clumsiness in the rest of the series. If they wanted to cut parents out of things before, they could have. Just doesn't feel like it fits their production value up until now, you know?

@Mattwan Jeff did say he told them about Damsel being the last one to see Jessa alive 'and some other stuff', I believe.

Extra Note: ...Are they dumb in thinking that the Rake couldn't just get out the window in Alex's room? I mean...really? I'm pretty sure if it wanted to be loose again, it would be.

Thanks, Scion. I hope we eventually find out what this "other stuff" was.

It still bugs me that the police were already interrogating Damsel a week before (it appears) Jeff dropped the bomb that caused them to drag her to the station. I'm beginning to wonder if that might also be a little continuity flub.

I know these guys are generally better at continuity than a lot of big-budget TV series, but little errors are going to creep in here and there. And there's going to be stuff, like the Rake's non-captivity, that basically just requires us to wave our hands and look the other way. This isn't meant as a slight against the boys at all; as godlike as they are, they are in the end still only human. Smile

Jeff did say that the last paper he DIDN'T look at was the one for a patient named Jeffrey. No papers for a child named Alex...I like your theory, nevnaan. That perhaps things are going a bit differently in the current dimension as opposed to the other.

I really want to know what happened in that 'other' dimension that caused things to go so terribly wrong.

It seems to me that when they watch that Youtube of the first EMH episode in 'Welcome to the Ark'...that they're watching unassuming and unaware versions of themselves. Perhaps the versions of Evan, Vince and Jeff in WttA are versions of them that have already failed at their mission. Failed to do what they were 'supposed' to do.

They lost the Doctor. Lost Alex. Jessa. Damsel. Everybody else, with just them left...wounded and alone in a basement in a world ruined by whatever forces stand behind Slendy and The Rake.

@Mattwan It is totally possible that it really is an issue, I just don't know if it is! : ) We shall see though, I am thinking.

Edit: 'You're just putting yourself through it over and over again...' is what Vince tells Jeff when his laptop shuts off in WttA. I really do think this is a 'history repeating itself' sort of scenario.

I think it's weird Jeff didn't even look at the papers for Patient Jeffrey. I kinda get the feeling he's just saying he didn't when he actually did.

I believe he viewed them as well, he just doesn't feel comfortable sharing the contents. Either that or he actually is a bit slow.

I just realized that while I was sleeping I appear to have acquired some arm scratches. They're obviously cat scratches, but still. Last night my cat was scratching at my closet door trying to get inside and it kind of freaked me out, haha.

I can see why Jeff wouldn't read the papers through completely, but I guess it's possible that he was lying - maybe the paper about Jeff said something particularly bad that he doesn't want us to know about?

That was my thought, Adah. That he saw something in there that he didn't like, or would worry everyone else...perhaps make them trust him less. Saw something he didn't want to have shared with the rest of the class.

Seems possible, I mean the letters were pretty damn weird!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Wow, did you really roll over this expecting to see some big clue?

I'm wondering if he literally COULDN'T see the paper with his own information on it. Maybe it's some extension of the "can't see the Morse Code videos" effect?

At some point I think we need to delve into what's keeping the crew from seeing these things (if, in fact, it's not a case of us seeing what isn't there). Some form of subconscious suggestions placed on them? Slenderference to teh brainz? Candle Cove reruns rewriting their minds?

honestly, people don't see what they don't want to see. it wouldn't be too difficult to believe that slendy or some similar force just nudged their natural reluctance to see things like disturbing videos of them and their friends and turned it into a physical inability to process them.

There was one part of the stream last night that struck me the wrong way. Jeff mentioned how he feels HABIT is just a troll, and that this tournament is "just a game."

This unsettled me, because it wasn't just a game for Ryan. After everything that's happened to them up until this.. I don't understand why Jeff isn't taking this (at least kind of) seriously.

It's probably nothing, but it's been bothering me ever since he said it.

Pet theory: Rake kills CorenthalAge!Alex. CorenthalAge!Jeff is accused of the homicide and is put into Corenthal's care.

Modern day Jeff finds a paper telling him a kid named like him was accused of killing his little brother who is also named like his own little brother, and is comprehensibly upset, so he decides that the papers must obviously be either a fabrication or a coincidence.

Since his parents are dead/otherwise incapacitated, he knows his brother has only him, so he doesn't want Alex to be scared of him, so he hides the papers and pretends they never happened - "well, they're full of lies anyway. Right? Right?"

Hey. I've been lurking here a while, but never posted... Anyway, I had an idea on a way the HYBRID guys might be able to see the hidden videos. I recorded it and uploaded that to YouTube. I messaged it to them already, and since they watch this thread, this'll make them more likely to see it... Anyway, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHhrzqZg9O4

I don't think that'll work, Xenav ^^;. I don't think them not being able to see the hidden videos has anything to do with something *we* have done yet ("We just need to figure out how to trick them into seeing it!"). For whatever reason, they can't see the videos, and they won't be *able* to see the videos until the they're "meant" to see the videos

i can already tell you that ain't gonna work. they'll just reply with something like "dude, why did you send us a link to you filming static?" or something similar. it's best if we just give up on trying to get them to see the hidden stuff. if they're supposed to know about it, it'll happen eventually and most likely without our interference. it's been established that they have some kind of a block against seeing anything related to the hidden videos, not just the specific videos on their channel.
