I tried to watch the archived stream, but wasn't able to. From the wikia resumed version and I find one odd thing with Jeff and Alex living by themselves: On "Alex" From 1:31 to 1:35, there is an old man asking "who is there?" 2 times.

If that one is not their dad, who he is?

It might be another member of the family who's a tutor but doesn't live with them all the time.

But to be honest that scene was half the reason behind my Alex-and-Jeff's-parents-are-bad-we'll-tell-people-they're-dead-so-they'll-stop-asking theory.

To be more serious, anyway, it might have been Jeff.
The whole idea of them being alive but the boys trying to hide it from us for some reason actually makes quite a bit of sense. I mean, it does seem like a pretty sketchy cover-up and I have trouble imagining they would still be mourning so much when Vinnie said they'd been dead for a while I think. I say that they're angry drunks or something. But idk it all seems a little funny about the parents thing and I think it might become an important plotline somehow later.

Jeff's voice isn't that old man-like. haha

I don't see why the barricade thing is such an issue anyway. If slendy or rake or any supernatural entity here has the power to wipe mids or alter memories AND/OR perception; and does so freely; why wouldn't it do that to any parents or relatives in the jeff/alex household?
Well, considering that according to Vinnie in the latest Ustream, Jeff and Alex's parents have just died....

Actually, he said they've been dead for a while.

I'm personally of the same mind as many of you -- they're either living with grandparents or aunts/uncles, or other family members are dropping by to check on them fairly frequently.
I don't think they live with anyone. I mean Jeff said "Insurance money can go a long way" or whatever so that suggests that they're living alone. And if they have family members that care enough to stop by and check on them, then would they really live alone like that? Wouldn't someone have taken them in?

Again, I buy the story. I lived alone at their age, and without a sibling for company even.
There are plenty of ways to explain all of these questions. The boys chose to make that part of the plot, and I have plenty of faith that it was not done without forethought.

Yeah I can see it being true, it's entirely possible. I'm just saying it's also possible that there's more to this than what we're seeing. Assuming they are telling the truth, there still may be some involvement surrounding the circumstances of their parents' death as it seems like they were reluctant to mention how they died.

Also the lights just flickered off for a second in my room and the internet momentarily stopped working. ;m;

Yeah, I'd give up on the morse code vids for now. Plotwise they will not acknowledge them yet, if ever. I don't think the vids are meant for them, but for us. If they ever can see them, I think they'll already be screwed.

Jeff did allow for a little possibility last night. He admitted that if they existed but they couldn't see the vids, that was "troubling." It's not 100% denial, at least not for him.

lol new page

@plex. about the voice not being Jeff's: yeah, I'm unconvinced myself. But maybe, after a week of almost not talking, from two rooms away...? It would explain why Alex flinches and insists to move away at least.

I still like my theory best, but I've been wrong more often than not so meh.

Still, the barricade and Alex sleeping in Jeff's room could have been explained away to the parents in a thousand ways (me and my sister do all sort of weird/fun/stupid stuff together when we're both home and we're both older than the boys), and in this way the parents would have been a non-issue even if they were very alive and living in the same house.

The parents must be dead (or said to be dead) for some plot-related reason I think. Remember, Damsel lied to us and I believe the trio is perfectly able to lie to us too.

Also, weren't there some pics of Alex and Jeff at a Christmas dinner with Jessa in the 13 Years Old Myspace vid, in which some older people appeared? With Sparky looking into forever? (Actually, I remember thinking the man in the pics looked a bit too old to be the boys' father, lol, but I suck at guessing ages).

Fake Edit: yeah, at 00:49. Alex, Jeff in the background, an older male in the very foreground, a woman next to Alex who doesn't look like Jessa to me. But they might be uncles - I mean, as much as the kids might be indipendent and living alone, I think the family would go visit them at least for Christmas (also, the party might be at Jessa's for all we know).

Just occurred to me: the fact that both parents are dead and the insurance thing would both hint at a not natural death, right?

I just backtracked to read your theory (I'm no good at keeping up with this thread yet haha) and it seems very much possible. I think there are certainly parallels between what's going to happen to the modern boys and what happened to the Corenthal ones. So the more we learn about the previous boys, the more will be revealed about the potential future events of our boys.

About that image in Jeff's video, is it possible that video is before their parents died? The fact that it looks to be on Christmas morning and everyone looks so happy suggests to me of happier times before their parents' death.

And yeah, that was what first struck me is that they talked about their deaths like it was the same incident. And the fact that Jeff and Alex are still really scarred about it says that maybe it was a particularly tragic and unnatural death like murder.

So what are the odds that we eventually learn Jeff and Alex's parents were found in a number of Hefty bags hanging from trees in the back yard?

I'm counting on Slendy to be at least a little more creative than that sometimes. lol

Hope they didn't fall on Alex and Jeff when they found them. lol I'd understand them being scarred then.
