 		Two main reactions:

1. They have bigger things on their plates than making their story easy to follow. And yet are doing so anyway. All in-character. I love these people.

2. That knife is like, permanently glued to Evan's hand, isn't it? At the very least he's magnetically attracted to it. Not that I can blame him, it is a damned pretty knife.
