So I was thinking, what if Alex isn't crazy? Maybe he's just like that Sixth Sense kid and he can still see and talk to his dead parents. And if they're ghosts, maybe those were their voices we heard at certain points.

Get ready for nonsense ok. I scribbled this down in a more coherent fashion at some point but idk what I did with it. I obviously have too much free time. So rambling away...

In the first video of his, he mentions his parents many times, and none of it's positive. Actually, nothing related to his parents has been very positive. His parents don't trust him, they grounded him, he can't go anywhere, they'll put Sparky to sleep if he tells them about what happening (even though it's pretty obvious that Sparky didn't cut up Alex's arms). And then the lack of parents in general: When Jeff vanished, no one other than the boys seemed to care. I'm pretty sure they mentioned at some point that Jessa's parents/family got police involved after she vanished. Instead, Evan and Vinnie go over to Jeff's house and talk to Alex (who seems to be home alone). The only mention of parents from that was Alex telling them that Jeff called their parents. Idk, this has always bugged me.
And then, Alex seems to purposely isolate himself. Even if he couldn't tell Jeff, he definitely could have told Evan, or even Vince, a lot sooner. I mean, the boys have already dealt with some fucked up shit. If you started experiencing weird things, wouldn't they be the ones you'd want to talk to? Ryan started the Trials and immediately thought of the guys when shit got weird, because they had experience with weird shit.*
TL;DR, I think it wasn't an OOG cop-out/retcon, or if it was, it fits well. I see Alex as putting blame on himself for his parents' deaths. Why, I dunno. It depends on the circumstances around what happened. People, especially kids, do this often. I think he's aware on some level they're dead, but is in denial about it as well. And he's using it in two different ways. 1. It's comforting and a way for him to pretend he's just like any other teenager and that nothing bad's happening to him and his brother. 2. It's a way for him to punish himself. He feels guilty so he can just say "I can't do that, my parents said _____". It's an excuse.

* This relates to this kinda off topic part: Alex still doesn't seem to totally grasp the severity of the others' situation or refuses to believe that it's actually happening. He didn't believe them at all at the beginning and even now still makes light of the Slendy-situation (he still has the fake Slendy). He jumped to compete in the Trials (to win, unlike the other guys who wanted to get information) despite their concern over his health and well being. He thinks it's just for kicks and a prize more or less, and doesn't even consider the danger.

The whole Alex thing is going to bother me until we find out for sure ok.

Thanks you guys. My mind goes a little haywire near Christmas break since all my friends work like crazy and leave me alone. I come up with stuff all the time lol.

Edit: You guys shouldn't encourage this. I need to be studying for my Prob/Stat test tomorrow. Like I'd ever study anyway lol
