Another thing. Now, I'm not good with exact American geography, being from another country entirely, but where is Brooklyn located relative to Princeton or wherever the guys currently live? Because Damsel has indicated in her blog that after the fire she headed "up north" and has done so again ever since the last group of people she associated with died. So if Brooklyn is north of Princeton then she would have had to have headed "down south" to get where she is now, and she's only ever mentioned moving north.

Weird. I thought I'd posted this a couple of days ago, but it looks like I didn't.

According to her June 22 post, Damsel attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts, which is in Birmingham, AL. That post appears to have been removed from display on her site, but it's still available through tumblr. I'm guessing she pulled it because it implies her family home is still standing.

She wrote on July 9 that she came home from school to find that her house had burned down. If the Alabama School of Fine Arts is still canon, that suggests her family lived in Birminham or one of its suburbs.

According to Google Maps, it's about a 950 mile drive from Birmingham to Princeton.

But yes, interesting catch, I hadn't noticed that before. Seems you're on the money as to why the post was removed though.

Google maps says Princeton is southwest of Brooklyn. So, completely in the wrong direction. XD

Ignoring the Brooklyn fire, is it possible that the Ashen Waste is the spot where Damsel's parents died in the fire, if that area hasn't been renovated? It's a long shot, especially since checking it out looks like it would require the guys trekking to Alabama, but I figure it's worth throwing out there.

Yeah, Brooklyn fire is proably unrelated, but the choice of words is interesting.

Yeah, I would tend to lean toward the "land of ashen waste" referring to her childhood home, and perhaps even standing as a metaphor for her childhood - she is, after all, one messed up puppy.

Interesting though, why send a postcard? What is the meaning of a postcard in general. A communication, yes, but much more. It is a piece of the place you send it from, a way of communicating the location of the person sending it. It also acts as a memento, to remind someone of that place, perhaps even a way of saying "wish you were here"... with all the frightening prospects that brings. The image on the front is taken as though driving down the road, toward the "land of ashen waste", implying travel.

Yeah, I think Damsel and Jeff are intimately connected somehow, and i also think we may be missing something, a small detail somewhere.

Exactly how I feel too. It's something that will feel completely obvious in hindsight, but that right now we're missing. I think they still have to give us some important pieces of the puzzle thought.

Also I love how after two very fantastic video updates and an epically bratty Twitter spat we're back to asking ourselves what the hell the Land of Ashen Waste is.

For the record, I don't think either camp reached out to the other "behind-the-scenes". I think Jeff was responding to her latest blog post, and I also think they were trying to take advantage of the latest trending topic to get the word out.

Princeton is only like an hour from NYC so it's not out of filming distance. Although depending on the neighborhood they might be working around a few zillion people It would rule out Damsel as being involved in the fire but it could still be the Ashen Waste I guess.

I sent them a tweet with a link to the news article, cause why not.
